So you thought you had it all sussed – wasn’t it a given that your oldest pal was going to be your bridesmaid and why of course your sister was going to be chief? Not so. So we are on hand to help…

Asking your friends’ to be by your side on your big day is a really great honour, after all you’ve been through it all together and they’ve wiped the tears all those frogs before ‘the one’ have left behind. So it is kind of fitting that you do something special for them (Lord knows you’re going to be calling in enough favours over the next few months – better start buttering them up now!) Here are some sweet and simple ways to ask your favourite ladies to be your bridesmaids…

For all the Cindy and Barbie lovers out there, this could be the perfect way to go. Anyone who loved their dolls when they were younger will appreciate these quirky cut-outs by First Snow Fall. Hand illustrated in punchy colours, these cards open out so you can write a heartfelt message to your bridesmaids. And the best part, you can even customise the hair and dress colour to suit your friends’ style! This DIY version over at Once Wed is defo worth a try if you’re after brownie points. Or if you were more of a ‘Mask Crusaders’ girl at heart, there are still tons of gorgeous cards out there to scrawl a simple, heartfelt message on to that aren’t quite as girly.

Sweet Treats

Who doesn’t love sugar?  Sweeten your friends up with some baked goods (unless they’re on a diet of course and even at that they’ll love you for it – it would be rude not to try one!). Customised sugar cookies are ridiculously cute – we’re talking lashings of icing in really sweet dress designs, you’re on to a winner with these. Or if you’re a bit of Nigella (or not) you can always whip up a batch of your own (this recipe over on Martha Stewart looks divine), either way it’s a cheap and sweet way to show your girls’ you care.

Label Love

We endorse any excuse for a good old-fashioned knees up here in weddingsonline and this one definitely has some merit to it! Organise a girly night in, produce some vino/cocktails/bubbly brandishing a fab personalised label and yep, pop the question – all in the name of duty of course! This really simple idea can be used on any of your girl’s favourite drinks whether it be a Bacardi Breezer or a bottle of Moet. Trawl the likes of Etsy where you can pick these labels up in multiples or if you’re a dab hand on Photoshop and want the personal touch, rustle up some of your own.

Personalised Hangers

This is a practical and a pretty way to pop the question if we do say so! After all your bridesmaids are going to need somewhere to hang their frock come the big day and this DIY version is perfect. Head on over to Something Turquoise where we came across this lovely tutorial to help you through it or if you’d rather leave it to the professionals, you can pick one up on the likes of Ebay or Etsy. Be careful though – too many demands and you may get a wallop of one!

Okay so you may think, hanky – not so pretty but check out these little beauties! They’re almost too good to use. Designed as a keepsake, they’re a really pretty way to ask your ladies to be by your side on your special day and they may even come in handy on the day – sweaty groom, snotty kids, spilled champers, a stray tear, your bridesmaids will be going above and beyond the call of duty with these bad boys. And the good thing about them is that they can be framed and kept as a keepsake afterwards. Providing Bridezilla hasn’t severed too many friendships! BHLDN stock them as do Wedding Chicks.
