The Couple: Emma Morgan, a primary school teacher, and Adrian Morrissey, a recruitment consultant and footballer for Wexford and Kilmacud Crokes.
Length of Engagement: 9 months | Wedding Date: 19th March 2010
Wedding Ceremony: University Church St. Stephen’s Green | Wedding Reception: Merrion Hotel, Dublin 2
Wedding Photographer: Fiona Morgan Photography
Adrian’s proposal to Emma came in the form of a surprisingly unsuitable birthday card and nine months later the couple wed with a two day celebration in the city. A party in Bewley’s Hotel, Ballsbridge followed a peaceful wedding ceremony and intimate dinner with their closest family and friends in The Merrion, where Fiona Morgan of Fiona Morgan Photography was on hand to capture the tears, laughter and even some uncomfortable-looking moments in those all too revealing wedding speeches!
We met… at college when we were 19 and 20.
First impressions of your Adrian… We got on so well from the moment we met. I thought he was so handsome and didn’t want to be too far from his side after we got talking! We just laughed a lot really.
Adrian’s first impressions of you… Saw Emma in college and was blown away. Didn’t think I would have a chance but tried my luck and now we’re married! We are now expecting our first baby in September.
Our engagement… In town after a little stroll on my 26th birthday, Adrian presented me with a birthday card for a ‘fiance’ asking me to marry him.
Our wedding theme/colours… Spring, light colours. Whites, greens and beiges…
Our inspiration for the wedding theme… It was a city wedding so we wanted to keep it simple and sophisticated.
Our ceremony… Our priest Fr. Aodhan Markham did an excellent job and created a relaxed atmosphere. The ceremony was very relaxed, simple and fun. We had a string quartet, Praga String Quartet, and the music was beautiful.
Our favourite wedding photo…The two of us smiling at each other in The Merrion (main image). It shows how happy and excited we were. Fiona Morgan captured so many great moments on the day without and of the shots being too posed. She made everyone feel so relaxed. It has been so hard to pick from her photos as every single one of them are beautiful. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
My dress… It was a simple dress with a fishtail.
My favourite part of the wedding… It was brilliant to walk through St. Stephens Green over to The Merrion Hotel. People were clapping and cheering for us as we walked through the park. It was so nice to be able to chat and have fun with all of our friends and family.
Our bridesmaids/groomsmen… Bridesmaids were best friend Sinead O’ Toole and my niece Jessica Morgan. The best man was Adrian’s Brother Eoin and the flower girl was my niece, Eve Berry.
We chose our venue because… We had two venues as we wanted to keep our wedding day small and intimate. We had 40 of our closest friends and family for a reception in The Merrion Hotel and then the following day we had a big party in Bewley’s Hotel, Ballsbridge for the rest of our family and friends.
Our wedding menu… For starters we had Caprese Salad with Parmesan Crisp and Cream of Celeriac soup, then for the main course we had Fillet of Beef with spring vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes or Seabass with wild mushroom risotto. We finished with apple crumble cheese cake and petit fours.
Our first dance song… Baby I love You (The Ramones)
What is your advice for other brides? Get ready in time! I ended up being last to get my hair and make-up done and it was a bit of a rush in the end. After that relax and enjoy! Try and soak it all up as it goes by so fast.
Our honeymoon… We went to Costa Rica, Central America for two and a half weeks!
