Valentine’s Day is this weekend and if you’re expecting something sparkly as your V-Day gift, chances are the following insta inspiration will be right up your street. The engagement ring selfie is becoming as much a part of engagements now as the phone call to your parents and WhatsApps to your mates. It’s a lovely way to record the excitement and of course give the world a glimpse of your new rock (and let them know you have one!). But unlike every other photo you causally upload to your Instagram or Facebook feed, this snap will be getting a lot of attention.
There’s a few things to consider when it comes to taking your engagement ring selfie – the manicure (most ladies get the polish out before showcasing the sparkler), the lighting (natural is best), the angle (you wanna show off that stone), the backdrop (avoid clutter – you want the ring to shine), the pose (the pros say hand raised in the air works best but if you’re worried about shaking hands, keep it natural by resting your hand on your bag or by holding your morning coffee).
