A Day at the Funfair – Your Wedding Theme Sorted!

Décor & Flowers

Festival fever is just not letting up for us this summer, we simply can’t get enough of sweet, bright, carefree weddings! Today we’ve taken on a carnival wedding theme and are sharing ways to inject a subtle, pretty festive feel to your day. Our location of choice for a fabulous funfair style wedding is the awesome Mount Druid in Westmeath which, if you haven’t come across it on your wedding research, is one of the most fun and alternative wedding venues in the country.

The best thing about a carnival theme is that anything pretty much goes. Try not dwell too much on colour combinations and just go with what you like, an eclectic mix of colours, shapes and styles will only add to the relaxed, fun atmosphere of the day. Hire an ice cream van for your drinks reception, serve fresh cocktails and juices in these cute paper cups and sprinkle some giant balloons around the room (giant balloons are now available from the weddingsonline shop – check them out here!) Make guest feel at home with whimsical chalkboard direction signs, and make sure to have fun when it comes to your table names!

For entertainment, we love the idea of having a live caricaturist meandering around and offering to create very personal favours for guests. We also love this gorgeous funfair wedding, where guests received funfair style tickets for the photo booth (check out Impack Design for this style of stationery). For evening food, why not treat your guests by hiring The Chip Van? It’s the only way to end a day at the fair…
