DIY Wedding Updo – The Side Chignon

Hair, Make Up & Beauty
diy wedding updo

This fresh, easy side chignon is as modern as it is timeless. Low-swept curls recall a classic chignon, while an asymmetrical silhouette lends a flirty vibe. It looks carefree yet still elegant, and as you can see in the pics, it’s absolutely fabulous on vibrant hair. We won’t be lying if we say we totally love it (and if you see someone rocking this style at our office, they’ll probably say they were ‘just practicing’). What can we say, this side chignon is so easy to fall in love with! Follow our DIY wedding updo instructions to do it yourself. It’s so easy!

One more thing. As you can see, the model is wearing no hair embellishments at all… but that doesn’t mean you can’t! This style looks perfect with pretty much everything you pin into it: small jewels that look like water droplets, or a big statement clasp, or a vintage feather-shaped pin… anything goes! Don’t be afraid to experiment with accessories, we love them.

Step 1

Using a round brush, blow-dry hair smooth and straight, focusing on the top sections.
