You don’t usually hear the words ‘luxury’ and ‘ethical’ together in the same sentence, but Sanyukta Shrestha’s eco-friendly wedding gowns are just that. The Nepalese-born, London-based designer works with hand-loomers from Nepal and fair trade certified manufacturers in the UK to create opulent, bespoke wedding gowns, accessories and hats for an eco-conscious, contemporary bride.
Sanyukta has taken her passion and flair for design and infused it with an awareness for sustainable, fair trade fashion. Her fabrics are mostly wild fibres hand-loomed in Nepal, where traditional skills are merged into modern masterpieces. But Sanyukta goes beyond fair trade, sustainable fashion in the creation of her pieces, by keeping affordability and value in mind for the consumer. The dresses in this line can be altered to create at least two different styles, with many comprising of extra, removable layers and accessories that can change the overall look of the dress or worn as part of a different outfit entirely.
