Last month we compiled a list of some of the most unusual colour combinations for a wedding theme. Some of our tip top favourites were fuchsia and turquoise, yellow and lilac and the gorgeous 50 shades of orange – all of which are just as daring as they are manageable, and perfect for an autumn wedding. However two colours keep popping up for modern autumn weddings – navy and lime green – we thought just couldn’t work together. Then we came across this gorgeous Cape Cod lime green and blue nautical real wedding on Inspired by This and were inspired (by that).
The key to this palette is to anchor it in a very neutral colour – choose between white, silver or grey – and to accent one colour with the other. In this palette we favour navy blue. This deep and royal colour suits every shade of skin (so is perfect for bridesmaids/groomsmen), is easy to get hold of, and is less sickly than a lime green overload. The lime green is then added in little touches such as the bridesmaid bouquets and the table flowers. The natural lime green of the bouquets below is really as bright as you want to go without offending people – and mixing it with darker shades of green will give it all the more impact and substance, making for a whimsical, but sophisticated overall wedding look. And if you can have the celebration on your parent’s private marina with the sky and sea as your backdrop, sure that’s all the better.
