Domes & Cloches

Cloches or domes are a fabulously modern addition to wedding tablescapes. They have so many uses and will work for weddings year round but look particularly gorgeous when piled high with autumn’s rugged greenery and foliage. They can be used to cover everything from cheeses to tasty dessert treats or as a unique and interesting centrepiece display, for example as a cute cover for pine cones, candles or even photographs.

Pine Cones

One of our favourite décor ideas for autumn and winter weddings has to be pine cones and they’re such a cheap and easy way to decorate your reception venue as well. You can turn them in to chic and rustic place name holders or scatter them across your reception tables to give them a homely, rustic edge. They can also easily be sprayed gold if you’re after a bit of glitz.

Leaves

Leaves are plentiful at this time of year and they’re a cheap and effective way to decorate your tables. They make a great place card holder – you can scrawl each guest’s name on a leave so they know where they’re sitting. We also love this DIY over on Style Me Pretty where you can spray your leaves gold and turn them in to an elegant garland for your reception chairs. Shells are another beautiful way to decorate your tables, particularly place settings and can be picked up on an evening stroll to the beach.

Foliage & Berries

Gardens are overflowing with lush natural foliage at this time of year, just waiting to be snapped up and incorporated in to your wedding décor. Natural foliage can be used for everything from gorgeously rustic and earthy table runners, to garlands for your getaway car or as a chic swag for the back of your reception chairs, creating a little woodland wonderland indoors.

Terracotta Pots

Give your wedding space an earthy, natural twist by using terracotta pots throughout your décor. If you’re using trestle tables, a row of little terracotta pots overflowing with natural foliage and berries would create a beautifully rustic tablescape. But they can be used for more than just flowers – use them as candleholders or as a sweet place to display wedding signage or table numbers.

Herbs

Who’d have thought that bush out your back garden would come in handy for anything other than flavouring your dinner? If you’re looking for a beautifully rustic way to garnish your place settings, this is one cheap and earthy way to go about it. Pop a sprig of thyme on each guest’s place setting, pop one on top of each napkin or shape your herb of choice in to a miniature heart or wreath for the ultimate rustic touch.

Fab Fabrics

Fabrics like hessian and crushed velvet are in high demand all year round but they’re perfect for lending a homely, warm and cosy vibe to a wedding space come autumn and winter. Hessian has so many amazing uses from romantic jam jar covers and table runners and bows for your pew ends, to a unique and interesting backdrop for signs. Bakers twine is also an easy way to give your décor a rustic feel – tie to jam jars to create shabby chic candle holders and floral displays or create pretty little bows around your napkins and cutlery. Woodland motifs are great for weddings year round but they’re particularly popular at this time of year with cutesy little owls, foxes and foliage like trees and leaves making their way in to wedding stationery suites. Think illustrated, whimsical designs for an enchanted forest inspired wedding party – we love this inspired idea where a clipboard was transformed in to a quirky wedding menu complete with adorable woodland illustrations.

Wine Bottles

If you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful way to decorate your wedding space, gather up old wine bottles. Wine bottles have two great uses – the first as a romantic way to display candles and they are also great for bringing a bit of height to your centrepieces. The second is the corks – corks can be used to create a fun and interesting way to display your guests’ names – pop a piece of card on top and voilà.
