I know this has probably been done already but just looking for some advice on an OPK!

I'm a newbie to all this TTC stuff and this is our first month really TTC.

This morning I did my first OPK. Just want to make sure I’m interpreting it properly…..only 1 line appeared in the window…..I think I made out a VERY VERY faint line closer to the arrow IYKWIM. So my understanding is that I did it correctly but because there wasn’t a darker line closer to the arrow that it’s not a + OPK…..is that right?

I have only ever used the cheapie internet version of the OPKs. I used to start testing on day 9 or 10 as I knew I didn't OV till about CD15/16. You need to get a strong dark line for the OPK to be considered positive (unlike a HPT where a line is a line!) - my advice is keep testing till your line becomes stronger that the test line and then get down to some serious BD good luck

That’s what I was thinking – I got the clearblue ones so just wanted to make sure that I had done the test correctly!!!!

Reckon I’ve another few days before I ovulate anyway!!! Now I just need to make sure DH is not on call when I do get a positive!!!!!!

hey girls this is my 2nd mth ttc num 2, am gonna start using opk's , excuse my ignorance but havent bought them yet will do@wkend, but u dip them in urine am i right? and usually 2days before u think your ovulating-twice a day? sorry for all the questions just wanna make sure I get it right! x

Black pearl if you haven't been temping or using OPKs you can be surprised as to when you actually OV. I would advise starting CD 10, test once a day 12-4pm is best (but like me if you don't get home from work till 6 then 6 it is!!!) until your line shows up darker than the control line. Theres days you'll have a faint line but it must be darker than control line for it to be positive, then get down to some serious BD for the next few days

Between 12-4?? Really, I did my test at 7 this morning.... Is that too early?

Unlike pregnancy tests, morning (first morning urine) is not the best time to collect samples for ovulation tests, as LH is synthesized in your body early in the morning and will not appear in your urine until the afternoon. The ideal time to test is in the afternoon, around 2pm, though testing may safely take place from 10am to early evening.

Yes Black Pearl, the first day you have proper "red" bleed is considered CD1
