hairdresser ruined my hair - update what do i do now?

Postby mama sugar » Mon Apr 02, 2007 2:25 pm

ok ladies,
this happened before xmas I decided to get my hair done I am blonde - dyed blonde and decided to go to a different hairdressers. I wanted to go for more of a light brown colour with some blonde highlights through it. So the lady said she could do it. It turned out really dark brown and I was not too happy about the colour but she said it would fade when I would wash it.
After 1 wash I noticed my hair was turning green and people were noticing it so I went back and showed them it.
They told me they would sort it out and put bleach (mesh highlights) on it. But there was still green in it.
I decided to go back to my regular hairdresser and she told me that my hair was a mess that they had ruined my hair that they should never have put bleach on my hair that that wouldn't take away the green...instead they should have used a toner to take the green away... I have been attending my regular hairdresser and she has not put any colour on the ends of my haior apart from toner but at my last visit she said if I was to put colour on my hair that it would fall out because they damaged my hair so bad applying direct bleach to my hair after it being coloured brown to try hide the green and now I have to get it cut out of my hair. She said my hair is that badly damaged that it is not hair anymore.
So just wondering what do I do when I originally went in to tell the hairdressers that my hair had turned green they told me that I must have moved house that the lime in the water could change my hair green but I had not moved house. I am really annoyed over this and thought my hair would be back to normal now but my other hairdresser has tried the toner on it and nothing seems to work....so any ideas on how to word a letter of complaint??
thanks
x

:action32 oh you poor pet! I don't know what to do about the hairdresser that ruined your hair but I would recommend a shampoo called loreal professional shine blonde or silver. they clean your highlights.

Also I don't understand why your hairdresser can't fix it. Wouldn't an all over semi get rid of the green and not destroy your hair?

Hey Mama Suger

It all sounds like a bloody nightmare I would march back down to that hairdressers and let rip for FS what the hell were they thinking putting bleach on it I would make a serious compaint I wouldnt let them get away with it.
Sometimes my hair gets very thin and i take a suppliment Hair and Nail care and it always seems to help it maybe go to a health shop and find something natural with no chemicals etc in it maybe that would help

Best of luck

This re-confirms my absolute phobia about hairdressers.

I have never coloured my hair, so I can't give you any constructive advice, but I really have to wonder what sort of apprenticeship some hairdressers actually go through.

I'm always hearing horror stories about colouring hair, and it seems that when you go to another hairdresser, they totally slate the other one.

I don't know if your looking for come back here Mama, if you were, then you would probably need to have photos of your hair in daylight and also have noted dates when you went etc.

My lord that is shocking. :eek They shouldn't be allowed practice if they are destroying peoples hair like that. You definitely need to complain and I would also bring it further if you get no joy out of them.

You'll have a case if you told them you were pregnant because if they told you the colour would take perfectly they were lying.During pregnancy dying your hair does not always turn out as planned. This is in my baby book.

Any decent hairdresser would have known that if you put tomato ketchup on green hair it takes the green out! This happened my friend & thats what the hairdresser that went to to get it fixed said to do & it worked!

I would definitely speak to the manager about this.

I know the dyed part of your hair is probably very dry and easily knotted and I could see why she wouldn't want to try and lighten it anymore but I don't see why she can't give it a little trim and an all over semi colour? As far as I know bleached hair clings to colour. There are also treatments you can buy like conditioner that you leave in your hair for as long as you can 30 mins or even overnight and wash it out the next morning.

I'm sure you're probably sick of hairdressers but I would go into a well respected and highly recommended stylist ( this may cost a bit more though) and get them to fix it.
