Hi Tippcailin, I'm so sorry to hear about your mam, I cant imagine how you must be feeling right now, and then the stress of the wedding planning. Definitely delegate as much as possible, the more people helping the better.
I'm getting married in Tipp at the end of the month, so I'll give you as much info as I can.
First, as mentioned, you need to register your intent. You will need both yours and other halfs birth cert so if ye dont have them you need to order them asap. Just give your local HSE office a call, they'll tell you everything you need to know.
Next, you need to get a venue. Because you were going abroad originally, you obviously dont have a specific venue you want, which is good. Get someone to call as many hotels as possible tomorrow. Get them to give you any available dates in the rough time period you are looking at, and ask them to post out details of their wedding packages. Also make sure to push them for additional discounts, any hotel will be delighted to get a wedding at this short notice, it will be extra income they werent expecting so you can geta really good deal. I am getting married in the Abbey Court in Nenegh, I absolutely love it. Would definitely recommend giving Joanne a call. Other places you should check are: Ballykisteen, Dundrum House, Anner Hotel, Lakeside Hotel Killaloe, Cahir House, Clonmel Park, Aherloe House, if your numbers are around 100 Cashel Palace is supposed to be lovely.
If you are planning a church wedding you need to contact them for availablity also asap, as you'll need to match a date in both church and hotel before booking.
Dress - you will have to get a sample/second hand dress. You can still get a gorgeous dress though, dont think you have to settle. I got mine in the bridal boutique in Cork. Its all second hand/ex samples so you can take the dress away on the day if you want. Definitely make an appointment, Karl is amazing at knowing what looks good on you. www.memoriesbridalboutique.com
Also, keep an eye out. All the shops have sales every so often where they sell off their samples. Some of them are in perfect condition.
Definitely make an appointment asap in a shop so that you can figure out which style/type of dress suits you. Then have a look at the buy and sell section here, and on donedeal.ie etc. Again, all the dresses have been worn once and are usually in perfect condition.
Photographer - we have Stephen Hurley booked. Hes from Waterford but will travel to Tipp. Really nice guy, and reasonably priced too.www.hurleyphotography.com
Videographer - Drangan video. Eamon does a lot of weddings in Tipp.www.dranganvideo.com
I would recommend using the Sophies Finder option on this site though, you put in the date and part of the country and you will get emails from any supplier who is available on that date. It could get time consuming and depressing if you have to work your way through a list, just to keep hearing they are booked for your date. This would be good for the band also (although you could consider just a DJ - a lot of people are doing this now to save money, and I cant imagine people dancing any less than with a band!)
Flowers - Dot in Thurles is great. She doesnt have a website, but if you search for sunflowers thurles shopping centreon facebook you'll find pictures etc. Her number is 0504-23240.
Hair & make up - check your local salons.
I cant think of anything else at the moment. Best of luck with everything, if you need any advice or opinions on suppliers just send me a PM, I'll do whatever I can. But definitely spread the load planning wise so you arent stressed by things and you get to spend as much time with your mam as possible
