We're not paying for our bridal party but then again most of our bridal party live in Galway City so couldnt justify paying big bucks for a room (its race week) which would only be used for a couple of hours tops. But even if they didnt live in the city i dont think we would pay for the rooms, maybe help them out a little but not pay for the whole thing.

We are paying for our bridal party rooms instead of giving them gifts.

Were not paying for ours, we cant really afford the extra expense as it would be in the region of €700 for them all and I dont think they would expect us to....my 2 brothers (groomsmen) were well impressed that they were getting a pair of new shoes out of the gig :o0 :o0 so i dont want to be spoiling them too much >:o)

We did pay for parents and bridal party. Not for traditional reasons but as a thank you for all the help with the wedding. I delegated a lot to them in the last few weeks! :)

We paid for ours. Got the parents' rooms thrown in by the hotel, but we paid for bridal party rooms.

It's up to yourself, a lot of people don't pay. I think it's a nice thing to do though.

It also depends on the financial situation for some of your bridal party. My sister was BM for a friend a couple of years ago when she was a student, the whole thing, including going on a very swish hen weekend away, ended up sending her in to credit card debt that my Dad had to lend her to pay off. She stayed in the v expensive hotel on the night of the wedding, but the night before and the night after(which the bride insisted she be around for) she headed down the road to a b&b alone while the rest of the party (all making good money at the time) stayed on. Her friend also insisted they contribute to their dresses and pay for their shoes, which she picked that cost €400 :eek and not ones my sis would ever wear again. I had her on the phone to me crying about 20 times in the lead up to it. I was only a BM once for my older sister yeeeears ago and my Mum bought our outfits/shoes and bridal party rooms were paid for (I was young and oblivious, still don't know who I should have thanked, was thanking everyone!!) so I don't know what the normal protocol is. We're not having a bridal party so phew that I don't have to go finding this stuff out. Sounds like expensive times!

We aren't paying for ours, we have 4 bm's and 4 gm that would be 1200 euros, we couldnt possibly afford that.

We did. Had a small bridal party so we could cover all their expenses, including accommodation. Hubs has been in a few bridal parties at this stage and his accommodation has always been paid for.
