Priest Issues

Postby Ms Fitz » Wed Nov 17, 2004 10:54 pm

Ok heres the situation. From Dublin but getting married in Cavan.
As I understand it, it must be a priest from your own parish that marries you. The trouble is that the only priest we really know from home is taking a sabatical next year and is doubtful he will be back by Sept 06. Should I ask the priest from the church in Cavan where we are getting married and what do I do if he says no?????

Sorry for rambling & thanks in advance..........................

neither my fiancee or i are from the parish we're getting married in - his uncle, a priest in another parish, is going to marry us so you dont have to have your home priest - you will need to get letter of freedom from your parish though- i saw posted here before a link to some pre-marriage course where you could ask the priests from there to preform the ceremony - im sure someone will remember & post it for you! good luck!

You should ask the priest from the church your getting married in will he do it, explain that your PP is going on sabatical at that time, failing that contact Accord and they should sort you out
