I don't think I'm being wild or out there, but of the 30 or so weddings I've been too only two were civil ceremonies so I do think that in Ireland, whilst becoming more common, it is a break from tradition. Added to this plenty of people being surprised or shocked that we're not having a church wedding (including my 17 yr old brother!) I felt it warranted a place on my list. According to this article (http://www.irishcentral.com/news/news_f ... 95498.html
) published in Aug of last year a whopping 71% of Irish couples are still opting for a church wedding so I definitely think it's still a break from the norm. I'm not trying to be different or offensive to people who have had church weddings either, I just don't believe in God and would feel like a hypocrite.
