A Fabulous Tinakilly Country House Wedding by David Maury Photography

“Having my Nan who is 93 attend the church ceremony and seeing her and Joe smiling at me when I reached the top of the aisle… I couldn’t help but tear up at that point.”

We met… years ago as teenagers but it wasn’t quite love at first sight back then! We did end up going out with each other for a year in secondary school but went our separate ways in college. We got back together about 8 years ago and got engaged in February 2016.

Our proposal… On what I thought was a normal Wednesday evening after work, Joe got down on one knee with my Mum’s eternity ring and left me speechless giving me only 40 minutes to take in what had happened, drink a celebratory bottle of wine and pack a suitcase for a trip to Disneyland Paris (I am a big child) and then to Antwerp to choose the proper ring!! (I ended up packing 7 t-shirts and no jeans or jumpers and every hair straightener/curler I own but no adapters!!) It was such a lovely surprise and so much thought and planning had gone into it – even requesting the time off work for me – I still don’t know how I didn’t suspect anything!!

My hair and makeup… was by the amazing Niav Brennan (Studio 84) and Aimee Connolly.

My dress… I tried on so many dresses and none of them seemed right. In the end I bought my Jenny Packham dress online and got it altered to fit me by the super talented Aideen from Very Engaging Designs. My floral crown was from the English Flower Farmer on Etsy and my Rachel Simpson shoes were my something blue!

His suit… was from Louis Copeland.

Our ceremony… took place in the lovely Kilquade Church. It is small so it was nice and intimate and the aisle was not too intimidating to walk down as it only took about 10 seconds!!

My favourite part of the wedding day… Having my Nan who is 93 attend the church ceremony and seeing her and Joe smiling at me when I reached the top of the aisle… I couldn’t help but tear up at that point!!

We chose our venue because… Tinakilly Country House was convenient for our guests to get to and it had everything we wanted – a lovely old house for the drinks reception, a bright spacious marquee for the main reception and gorgeous surroundings which would look great in any weather.

What our bridal party wore… After many weekends spent in the pub rather than dress shopping we finally were successful after going dress shopping on a week night! I didn’t mind what colour/style the bridesmaids wore as long as they were happy so I let them choose and they picked dresses from Coast. The flower girls’ dresses were from Monsoon. The floral crowns were made by a very talented family friend Marie. The Groomsmen and page boys wore suits from The Formal Suit and Roco Clothing.

We chose our photographer because… His style was relaxed and natural. We first met up with David (David Maury Photography) back in October last year and his easy-going manner put us at ease which was important as neither of us particularly like getting our photo taken!!

Our wedding theme/colours… Blues/Pinks/Greys.

My piece of advice for other couples… Try to relax and enjoy the build up in the days before the wedding as it is such an exciting time! It is so true when people tell you that the day itself flies by so fast so try to enjoy every minute!
