The lads old childhood toys are seeing the light of day again with this fun little trend! The boys are breaking out their old lego figurines and star war heroes and are donning them proudly on their lapels as button holes or on their shirt as cuff links – check out some more awesome super hero inspired ideas for the lads here.

Weddings can be a long day (but a great one) and one way to break it up a bit for the guests is with a few games. There’s no limit to the type of games you can include – if it’s a winter bash, think board games or Crazy Golf (Irish company Crazy Golf Hire can come to you with a totally mobile, 9 hole crazy golf course and as it works both indoors and outdoors, it’s perfect for weddings all year round) or if you’re have a sun-filled summery celebration, bring out lawn games like old-school favourites Connect 4 or Jenga. 10p bags were the thing of the summer when we were younger and the big kid in us still can’t say no to a bag full of jellies! The candy buffet is a roaring success at weddings for this very reason – guests get an awesome sugar hit and get to re-live some old-school favourites like cola bottles and refreshers! It’s a no brainer…

Another childhood fave that will get guests super excited is 99s! That familiar jingle from our childhood still has us rooting for our change every time and your guests will no doubt be very excited to see it pull up after the ceremony so they can tuck in to a Mr Whippy en route to the reception. Smith’s Ice Cream Vans and Freddie’s Ice Cream provide this awesome service while Adare Farm have a cute Ice Cream Cart where they can dish up six yummy flavours.

And you don’t just have to have the good family photos on display – some snaps of you both as kids and milestones throughout your relationship, either as table names or at other random spots around the venue will give guests a good laugh, plus it’s a lovely way to make the day all about you.

8. Treat Guests to a Photo Booth or Leave Out Disposable Cameras to Capture all the Action

The photo booth isn’t a new trend but it’s one of the most popular ones year in year out! Guests love the chance to don some props and take some fun snaps – plus if you hire one of the old-school versions, guests get a cute strip of photos they can stick on the fridge! The other option is to leave a Polaroid or disposable cameras handy so guests can snap away on their own for some equally awesome snaps.

The 90s and noughties were the glowsticks eras – you couldn’t have a night out without someone wielding one of these little guys and weaving them in to all manner of objects from shades for the lads to crowns for the ladies. They’re great for getting the party started and will have guests going mad on the dance floor – leave some close by and watch the antics commence…

10. Tuck in to Some Crisp Sambos

The latest throwback to our childhood we’re seeing at weddings is the crisp sambo kit. Delicious and easy to make, these kits are perfect soakage material after a couple of hours on the dance floor and will get the energy levels up! Or if you’re looking to give guests a take away treat they’ll devour the morning after, leave them out as favours instead. Either way, there won’t be a crumb left.
