12-Month Beauty Timeline for Irish Brides

Hair, Make Up & Beauty

Wedding planning can be full-on, so we’ve broken down the beauty timeline into simple steps to help you glow with confidence. No stress, no fluff, just a clear, practical timeline to get you there.

3 Months Before

  • Book your first facial if you’ve never had one. Talk to a professional about your skin type and what treatments might suit you. If it works well, plan for two more before the Big Day.

  • Review your skincare routine. A gentle cleanser, weekly exfoliation, and separate day/night moisturisers are all most of us need. Your local pharmacy may offer free samples to try.

  • Begin a full-body routine – exfoliate weekly, moisturise daily, and tackle any trouble spots like dry elbows or cracked heels.

  • Test your tan. Planning on bronzing up? Try a spray tan or tanning lotion now to see how your skin reacts and if the tone suits you. Steer clear of anything too dark.

  • Kick-start healthy habits. If you’re hoping to slim down or tone up, now’s the time. Choose something sustainable like evening walks or light exercise – it’s great for both stress and sleep.

  • Teeth whitening? Book a professional treatment now to avoid last-minute sensitivity. If you’re on a budget, save it for one month out and go for pharmacy options.

  • Stick with your current birth control. Now’s not the time to change anything that could mess with your hormones.

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Eight glasses a day – your skin and hair will thank you.

  • Book your hair and makeup trials. Aim to have them at least 6 weeks ahead. Bring along your dress details, veil, or accessories for reference.

  • Ask your hair stylist for a care plan – you’ve got time to improve your hair’s texture, shine, or growth.

  • Break in your wedding shoes. Just a few minutes daily will make a huge difference.

  • Grooms: now’s the time to look into skin treatments or traditional shaves. A little grooming can go a long way.

2 Months Before

  • Focus on sleep. The countdown is getting real and proper rest will keep stress (and dark circles) at bay.

  • Second facial time. Chat with your therapist about how your skin reacted the first time.

  • Start taking daily vitamins to boost immunity and energy.

  • Perfect your brows. Book with a reputable brow bar and avoid last-minute waxing just before the wedding.

  • Give your hands some TLC. Moisturise, exfoliate, and protect them with gloves for housework. Start using cuticle oil too.

  • Stay sun safe. Tan lines are hard to correct later!

1 Month Before

  • No new products! Stick with your current routine to avoid any allergic reactions or breakouts.

  • Pick your wedding perfume. Try samples first – you’ll want something memorable but not overwhelming.

  • Cover up or avoid tan lines if you’re wearing a strapless or open-backed dress.

  • Get a trim or tidy-up colour now, but no drastic changes. Add in weekly hair masks for extra shine.

  • Tackle breakouts with a gentle clay mask. If it works well, use it again right before the wedding.

  • Plan your hen party early this month so you’ve time to recover!

  • Treat your lips. Use balm daily and exfoliate gently once a week.

  • Start at-home teeth whitening if you opted for the DIY route.

  • Book your final facial no later than two weeks before the Big Day.

1 Week Before

  • Final mani-pedi. Ask your nail tech which finish lasts best for brides.

  • Frizz-prone hair? Talk to your stylist about humidity-proofing options.

  • Watch the bloat. Cut back on salty snacks and heavy carbs.

  • Stick with your water routine. A warm glass of water with lemon in the morning helps flush toxins and wake up your system.

  • Pack your emergency kit. Give it to your bridesmaid or coordinator.

  • Final wax should happen about 5–7 days before, especially if you’re new to it.

  • Book a spa day. Even just a massage and some quiet time can work wonders.

  • Tan top-up? Do it 5+ days before and avoid bra straps and socks right after.

  • Use your trusted clay mask again if it worked last time, but no new treatments!

  • Give your skin a breather. Wear less (or no) makeup for a few days, if you can.

  • Get your rest. Seriously, sleep is your best friend now.

  • Wash your hair the day before (unless your stylist advises otherwise).

  • Morning-of: Hydrate well, follow your skincare routine, skip the bra/socks to avoid lines, then relax and let your glam team work their magic.
