5 Gorgeous Finishing Touches for Your Wedding Invitations

It’s no secret we’re stationery nerds and can’t get enough of pretty wedding invitations and it’s fair to say that wedding stationery designers have really pulled out all the stops these last few years with stunning designs that are sure to impress wedding guests when they get their hands on them. We also love the little extras that make them that bit more special from beautiful hand-scribed calligraphy to cute personalised stickers and elegant wax seals. So today we’ve rounded up five fabulous ideas that are making waves in the wedding stationery world. Check them out below…

P.S. Still looking for the stationery of your wedding dreams? Pop over to the weddingsonline stationery directory where you’ll find a list of super talented stationery designers!

1. Elegant Calligraphy

Font is a key feature in many stationery designs and if you’re looking to go that extra mile and ensure your wedding invites look as beautiful as can be, some handscripted lettering is an elegant finishing touch. Irish company Soulscribe Calligraphy are the pros when it comes to this beautiful art form and can hand-write your invites, addresses or even place cards or menus for an extra special touch (they can do signs and table plans too!). Their beautifully hand-written invites will ensure your stationery suite looks the part and it will save you a job as well.

P.S. If you’re after a truly personal gift idea for your parents, bridal party, hubby or wife, Soulscribe Calligraphy can also transform a reading, song, poem or your first dance lyrics into a piece of Artistic Calligraphy which you can frame and cherish forever.

2. Beautiful Envelope Liners

Envelope liners are a fun little addition to stationery suites that are popping up more and more! If you’re looking to pretty up your envelope or add a pop of colour, some glitz or a personal touch like a monogram or your initials, this is a gorgeous way to go about it. Envelope liners are essentially patterned cards that you slip in to the envelope to give it a luxurious or fun feel. You can opt for patterned paper such as stripes, florals or glitter card to complement your wedding invite, or if you’re going simple and elegant with your invite, why not use the liner to introduce some colour or your initials if you’re having them as a bit of a motif for your day. Many stationery designers now offer envelope liners as part of their suites so have a chat with them if it’s something you’re interested in.

3. Sweet Personalised Stickers

We’re a big fan of personalised details, we can’t get enough of them from personalised wedding hangers to wedding signs, napkins and stickers that you can use to adorn everything from your favours to menus. We love the idea of popping one on your invites so guests know straight away what it is they’re receiving. It’s also a sweet little nod to the happy couple as well as adding some personality to a plain envelope. If you’re looking to get gorgeous stickers close to home, pop over to Amore Wedding Stationery by Donna Gormley Design.

There’s something super luxurious about wax seals and stationery fans might love the idea of sending off their invites with this regal touch. You can pick them up in craft stores of if you’re looking for something extra special and personal, the likes of Etsy have tons of stores where you can buy a custom made stamp, just for you.

5. Awesome Illustrated Maps

Wedding Maps by Appleberry Press

The wedding map has been around awhile but is one of our favourite stationery trends! It’s not a necessity but if like us you can’t resist a cute illustration, this will be right up your street. They come in many forms whether you want a graphic monochrome style or a pretty, whimsical watercolour design and while they look amazing, they are of course practical too. Again, many stationery designers now specialise in illustrated maps alongside invitations so have a chat with your stationery designer and if you’re after some inspo, be sure to take a peek at this pretty round-up!
