6 Brilliant Wedding Themes from Our Real Weddings

Décor & Flowers

Most couples choose some form of colour or theme for their wedding to tie the look and style of the day all together – it can be as simple as one colour such as bridesmaids in blush dresses, menus dotted with blush details and a cake with some of this romantic shade incorporated in to the design. Others go all out and bring their personalities in to the equation and come up with a plan for the decor side of things such as a vintage extravaganza or a travel theme for the jetsetters! Today we’ve rounded up 6 brilliant wedding styles we’ve come across in our real weddings to give you some inspiration when it comes to pinning down your own wedding colour scheme or theme. 1. Rustic & Romantic

Jessica and Barry chose Clonabreany House for their celebrations and wanted a “relaxed woodland/rustic feel, with lots of dark greens incorporated in the flowers, throughout the venue both inside and out, the bridesmaid dresses and table plan, along with props around the venue.” They pulled it off perfectly with beautiful blooms dotted around the venue, mason jars covered in twine, a cool botanical inspired table plan using twine and pegs, and their adorable love birds wooden cake topper! See more of Jessica & Barry’s charming Clonabreany wedding by Kevin Morris Photography.

2. A Travel-Inspired Love Story

Julie and Scott’s day was bursting with amazing personal details that are just begging to be pinned! The overall theme was travel-inspired but they brought so many different parts of their relationship in to it as well. The couple chose Clonabreany House as it “fit our style so well so decorating it was so easy.” They were keen DIYers and made lot of signage, added burlap to jam jars and filled them with baby’s breath and had both a photo timeline of their journey and a love story sign with all their special milestones. The travel theme popped up in their cake, their table plan and table names with a nod to all the amazing places they’ve been together. 3. A Glam New Year’s Eve Extravaganza

Denise & Andrew’s Springfort Hall wedding was full of glam touches and the couple used the bridesmaids’ gold dresses as the inspiration for their palette; “We didn’t really have a wedding theme per say, I just knew I wanted gold bridesmaid dresses so keeping that in mind everything else was based around that colour.” The date also played a part with some New Year’s Eve inspired touches in honour of their celebration on December 30th. The couple had a fab sparkler send off, resolutions dotted around the venue and a cool Jenga guest book propped next to some light up stars. 4. A Vintage Affair

Georgina and Joshua jetted off to Dubrovnik for their Big Day and brought their incredible style with them. The couple were swayed by the beautiful location and the hotel’s food, wine and service when it came to settling on the setting for their special day but its incredible architecture also helped seal the deal; “The architecture of the building and the grounds went well with our vintage theme, it was a really romantic setting.” The couple went for a fabulous vintage feel with lots of regal, ornate touches including a gilded frame as a table plan, sparkly gold sequin runners to bring a glamorous feel to the tablescape, vintage props such as an old typewriter and beautiful gold wax seals on their place cards. See the entire celebrations here planned to perfection by Yes I Du Wedding Agency Dubrovnik.

5. Timeless Elegance

Siobhan and Mark’s intimate wedding celebrations were held in the beautiful Waterford Castle with a classic palette and some divine floral details. The beautifully appointed suite with its heirloom pieces, wood pannelling and chandeliers was an exquisite backdrop for their elegant celebrations with everything from a beautifully iced three tier wedding cake with cascading flowers, romantic fairy tale inspired favours and pretty floral menus and table numbers. See Siobhan & Mark’s magical Waterford castle wedding with stunning pics by IG Studio here.

6. Gorgeous Graphics

Bronwyn and Padraig didn’t set out to have a theme but after designing their invites ended up with a seriously eye-catching one based on their graphics; “After I designed the invitations, I went on to design all the printed ephemera for the day including menus, table numbers and seating chart, the ceremony pamphlet and an order of events poster for the weekend, so that became the visual theme.” The couple also wanted to create an intimate, cosy feel for their autumn bash so opted for candelabras and flowers in beautiful autumns hues such as champagne (to tie in with Bronwyn’s stunning gown) and burgundy for that warm, romantic feel. And who can forget that cake – it’s a masterpiece in itself with all manner of gorgeous sweet treats dotted across it.
