1. Hanging Décor

Décor expert Alina from the Glenview Hotel & Leisure Club recommends using hanging décor as it is easy and inexpensive, but is so effective! “The outdoor setting creates a romantic and relaxed feel, and the great thing about it is the nature is your décor – with only few little extra touches you can create a truly magical setting! It’s a big bonus having a lot of trees around the ceremony and reception. Use paper hanging lanterns in different shades and sizes or fabric streamers to match your colour theme and brighten up the garden. Suspended glass bottles and jars with florals or just candles work wonderful for a chic and charming look. Alternatively, use umbrellas to create a truly dreamy and romantic effect! Hang them straight or upside down across the garden or the aisle. You can add some stings of fairy lights for the wow factor.”

If you’re looking to create a fun chill out area outside or some alternative seating for your ceremony, bales of hay can work a treat says Alina from the Glenview Hotel. “If you’re looking for a fun alternative to seating or a place guests can unwind, you might consider bales of hay – cover them with colourful blankets or cushions to make it extra cosy.”

Whether the sun is shining or not, ice cream always goes down a treat. Conjure up summer vibes by having your very own ice cream bar, we love this cute mason jar idea where guests can fill their jar with a scoop of their favourite ice cream or frozen yoghurt and finish it off with some yummy toppings (or if you’re looking for an easy option, pre-make ice pops). Or go one better and have the professionals do it for you – have a nostalgic vintage ice cream van from Smith’s Ice Cream pull up to treat your guests to 99s or if you’re after a chic ice cream cart, Adare Farm Ice Cream Carts can dish up delicious home made ice cream in cones or bowls – yum.

Create a fun festival vibe with some basins of drinks – guests will be glad of some ice cool drinks if it’s sunny and they’ll add to that laid back summer feel. Wheelbarrows are also a great way to store and display your drinks – fill them with ice and let guests help themselves. If you’re looking for a unique alternative to tables, Alina from the Glenview Hotel recommends adding some rustic barrels as pod tables or drinks stations. They’re a great place to perch some drink dispensers or jugs if you’re having cocktails or lemonade.

When it comes to décor, nothing says summer quite like a bit of cheery bunting! It will give your venue that festival, celebratory feel and it looks adorable to boot. You don’t just have to stick to your walls either, adorn your cake with a bunting cake topper, frame your table plan with some cheery triangles (as above), you can even add some bunting to your menus.
