When it comes to the overall style and look of your wedding day, your flowers will play a huge role in making it as magical as you have imagined. Of course, having the perfect flowers will all depend on finding the right wedding florist for you. With your ideas, colours and budget they will create bouquets, centrepieces, pew ends and all the floral decor you desire. Today we’ve got eight helpful tips to guide you in finding the ideal wedding florist.

1. Work out your wedding style

Before you start your florist search have a chat with your fiancé to determine how you envision your wedding day florals will look. You might know the exact flowers you want, or you might feel you need a lot of guidance, either is perfectly fine. A good place to begin understanding your style is to head to our Real Weddings, they are jam packed with amazing floral beauty covering all styles, from rustic to glam, elegant to bohemian.

2. Give your search plenty of time

It goes without saying that the most popular florists (just like all wedding suppliers) will book up early, so get in early! Booking your florist should be one of the main suppliers you choose at the beginning of your planning.

3. Ask family and friends for recommendations

You might already have a vague idea of who you’d like to book but ask around for recommendations. Ask about their experience with their ideas and be open to looking at suppliers you might have otherwise not thought of.

4. Research, research, research

The floral section of WOL is the perfect place to start, all businesses listed have lots of fabulous reviews that you can check out before you make contact.

5. Check out your favourites

Most florists will have their own distinctive style which should compliment the look you are after. With an idea of what you want, the flower suppliers listed within WOL is a great place to head to. Check out their website and social media. Do you love what you see? On the possible list then!

6. Book a consultation

Most florists will ask for either a face to face consultation, phone call or online meeting. This is your chance to explain what you want and get to know your florist a little. They’ll need to know things like your venues, photographer and number of guests etc.

7. Discuss your overall wedding ideas and budget

During your consultation you should be able to give your potential florist an idea of what you are looking for and your budget. You should ask about on the day set up and delivery and everything their service provides.

8. Examine your quote and hopefully book!

You will receive an initial quote that will include a detailed list of everything you will be receiving on the wedding day and any rental items. If you’re happy, arrange to pay your booking fee and give yourself a pat on the back for sorting another item on your to-do list!
