Say hello to Rūta and Pearse. This lovely couple got married on a gorgeous Autumn day and included seasonal colours in their decor. We love the way they blended Rūta’s Latvian traditions and Pearse’s Irish traditions into the day!
Couple: Rūta and Pearse
Engagement length: 2 years
Wedding date: 2024-10-11
Wedding location: Mulranny Park Hotel

Rūta and Pearse met online and their love story continued on a weekend away in Galway. It was Pearse’s birthday so Rūta booked time away. While taking a walk in Galway City, they sat down for coffee by Spanish Arch, when Pearse popped the question!
“Our wedding was in October so the colour scheme was autumnal. As Rūta’s favourite colours are lilac and violet, that was included in the flowers and bridesmaids dresses. Decor was simple, with long candles and a few greens.”
Rūta’s dress was white, fitted on chest but then falling down, with lovely fairytale sleeves and a little sparkly belt around the waist area. Simple but elegant. The jewellery was all pearls – bracelet, earrings, necklace. Pearse had a light blue colour suit with a pattern and brown shoes.
The bridesmaids wore dark green dresses and the groomsmen wore dark blue and dark grey suits.
“Our church ceremony was simple and lovely. We had music like ‘You raise me up’, ‘Songbird’, and ‘Black is the colour’.”
They celebrated with their guests at the beautiful Mulranny Park Hotel.
“The location is perfect. Very peaceful with great views. The building has a lot of history, that’s why it felt right for us. First viewing and we decided to go for it.”
The wedding was beautifully captured by David McGowan Photography.
“David was so easy to work with. We just wanted most of our wedding captured naturally which he did perfectly.”
To entertain their guests, they had the band Weightless Astronauts, who played music that everyone loved. Colin Fahy played all the wedding ceremony songs.
As Rūta is from Latvia, they had lots of Latvian traditional wedding games and entertainment mixed in with some Irish dancing.
Rūta shares her favourite memory from the Big Day:
“It’s the moment my husband’s friend who was my driver for the morning watched over me before coming in the church, his look on his face told me all great things.”
For Pearse, it was the moment in the church seeing Rūta.
We love asking newlyweds for their best wedding planning advice. Here’s what Rūta and Pearse said:
“Don’t stress too much as of course we did too. As some of the family can be so so hard to deal with when planning the wedding. Just remember it’s just your day, nobody’s else. We can’t make everyone happy just yourselves.”
