Their proposal story is a wonderful mix of romantic and hilarious! This is the story from Sorcha’s perspective:

“Colie was in New York in November 2019. He decided over there that he missed me so much and he wanted to marry me. I met him after a day of shopping in one of our local pubs on 22nd of December. He brought me to our local jewelers and made out that he hadn’t done any Christmas shopping and wanted to get me a ring to match all my jewellery. I told him I don’t wear rings and didn’t want one. He secretly wanted to get me a ring so he would know my size as he wanted to propose on my birthday the following year. Because I wouldn’t get a ring and told him “Just buy that bloody chain, I’m going back to the pub for a drink”, he then just picked up a ring and followed me to the pub next door. He left it in front of me, and I asked “Is that a bloody ring?” and he replied “Are you going to marry me or not?”. It wasn’t how he had planned, as I was a stubborn lady but it’s a funny story and everything worked out.”

Sorcha and Colie describe their wedding as “the most wonderful day”! Everything went perfectly and their venue, The Lady Gregory Hotel did an outstanding job. Their wedding featured a lot of floral, dusky pink and navy throughout the day. They had a fantastic day with unbelievable weather and they wish they could do it all again!

Sorcha wore a fabulous ivory dress that she got from Ennis Bridal Boutique. Colie wore mainly navy with an ivory jacket and tie to match me that he got in Corless Menswear Galway.

The beautiful Bridesmaids wore dusky pink flowy dresses with a flower detail on the straps that they got in Obsession Bridal Carlow. The pageboy wore all navy with a dusky pink bow tie and the groomsmen wore navy suits with dusky pink ties and ivory waistcoats that they got in Corless menswear Galway. The flower girl wore a fabulous ivory and dusky pink dress that they got in Leanaí Athlone.

They had a religious ceremony at their local church and said their priest was just fantastic. Brides and Brooms, a local florist created stunning flowers, and Niamh Payne was their beautiful ceremony singer. Sorcha said, “She has the most gorgeous voice and I’m so glad she was available on the day.”

They booked The lady Gregory Hotel for their wedding venue.

Here’s what they said about it:

“Absolutely outstanding! They did a fantastic job on the build up and on the day. Caroline was just amazing to deal with. Everything between the food, service, decor, tables was just wonderful. All our guests had an amazing time. I just cannot thank them enough for what they did on our wedding day.”

Their wedding was beautifully captured by Audrey Nestor!

This is what they said about her:

“Her attention to detail is just beautiful. We recieved some preview photos a couple of days after our wedding and they are amazing! I cannot wait to see the rest of them. She is friendly laid back and so easy to deal with. Honestly, I would not have picked any other photographer.”

To entertain their guests, they had a photobooth, because they’d experienced them at a few other weddings. All their guests loved it!

Sorcha and Colie had a gorgeous day and these are their favourite memories:

“Obviously marrying my best friend, but there was a beautiful sunset that night and we went to the back of the hotel to a meadow type area and took some fabulous photos. It was lovely.”

We asked Sorcha and Colie for their wedding planning advice for other couples planning a wedding:

“Don’t dwell on the small things. We had a few hiccups the week of the wedding and the morning of, but we didn’t let it stress us out. Everything will fall into place. Don’t be stressing.”
