Heather and Gav met while Gav worked at Heather’s favourite bar. He them popped the question at the top of Rockefeller Centre in New York!

The wedding colours were black and white with pops of dark red and pink from the roses and a little touch of light purple from the Heather in the flowers too. It was August and they got a beautiful sunny day which was lucky as it was a rainy week. They had cocktail stirrers with ‘Mr & Mrs Glynn’ on them to add a personal touch to drinks, black and gold place cards on the tables (handwritten by Heather) and they just had to add a couple of pictures of their cats for a personal touch!

“I wore an Ivory lace fitted mermaid style gown with a train and a low cut back to show off my tattoos. An Ivory veil for the ceremony, silver diamante bow heels (which I quickly switched to white converse after dinner) and a heart necklace Gav had bought me for Valentine’s. Gav wore a black suit, the jacket was velvet, his shirt was a western cowboy style with white embroidery stitching and he wore Doc Marten shoes. I carried my beautiful Twig & Stem bouquet and Gav had a buttonhole to match.”

The bridesmaids wore long black dresses (in any style of their choice) with heels, one wore Doc Marten boots. The male bridesmaid (affectionately called a bridesman) wore a black suit, docs and a hat he loves. The groomsmen wore black suits, white shirts and black ties with buttonholes to match the bouquets.
“As long as it was black we didn’t mind everyone pick their own styles and were free to add any quirky touches as we’re not super traditional!”
“Our ceremony was short and sweet. I walked down the aisle to Lover by Taylor Swift. Our good friend Craig was our celebrant and we did a simple candle lighting ceremony to symbolise our unity. We didn’t do vows as Gav is not a fan of public speaking but Craig did a personal and heartfelt story of how we met and our life together so far. It was light hearted and funny which was the perfect mood for the day.”

They tied the knot at the gorgeous Boyne Hill House Hotel!
Heather says, “Our venue was amazing, the grounds are stunning especially in the summer. The house is so full of personality and has everything you need. We did everything in the one location which was so convinent for our guests. And most importantly the team in Boyne Hill House go above and beyond to make the day perfect!”
The day was beautifully captured by Lisa Chonier!
“Lisa was incredible, she put everyone at ease and made sure to capture every moment we wanted. My husband is not a fan of getting his picture taken but she ended up getting some amazing shots. She timed it perfectly so it was done in short bursts with some gorgeous candids in between. We were so thrilled with our photos. They’re such an important element to the day as memories are everything to us.”
Since Gav was in the music industry for years, he has a lot of friends in entertainment. So, he put together a band to pay for the first part of the evening. After that, they hosted a karaoke and then had a DJ keep the party going for the rest of the night!
For wedding favours, they wanted something that people could use, so they got personalised matches and little paper fans for a hot day.

Heather shares her favourite memory of the day:
“Walking down the aisle with my mother by my side and seeing Gav and my step son Camden’s reactions was such a special moment for me and he had the same feeling standing at the altar too. My sister Hazel reading the beautiful poem she wrote. Lastly when we made our entrance at dinner, the cheers and reaction from our family and friends was amazing and a moment I’ll never forget.”
Newlyweds share brilliant wedding day advice. This is what Heather had to say:
“Do your own thing, don’t let old traditions or people’s opinions take over. It’s your day so choose elements that reflect your style. Also everyone says it, but enjoy every moment of the day, it flies by, so try to take moments to yourselves to take it all in!”
