We met…

Of all the crazy places to meet your future husband we met at a teenage disco called ‘The Ovens’. We were first introduced to each other when we were 13 years old.  We then started dating when we were 17.  Now we are husband and wife and loving every minute of it.

Our proposal…

Rob arranged the most beautiful proposal. We were snowboarding in the Pyrenees Mountains with our friends. On the final day of our trip we headed out early in the morning and went out as a group. Rob took me to this beautiful igloo with a fabulous carving on the wall. Rob asked some of our friends to take a picture of the two of us and that is when he got down on one knee and asked me ‘will you marry me’. He proposed with a token ring and he then showed me a picture of the ring that he had picked out for me.  Two days later when we were back in Ireland Rob took me to Keanes Jewellers in Cork City to pick up my ring. They bought us into a private room while the Jeweller stepped outside to get the ring I spotted a box of tissue on the table and mentioned to Rob ‘There is a box of tissues for the soppy girls.’ Well as it turns out I was one of the soppy girls the tears flew when Rob place my beautiful ring on my finger and I had to reach for a tissue.

Our wedding theme/colours…

Our wedding colour was blue. My bridesmaids wore beautiful royal blue dresses while Rob and the groomsmen wore navy blue suits.

Things we DIY’d/made ourselves…

My mom is a very creative person we went to the shop and bought a bunch of flowers and then we were determined that we were going to make all the bridal bouquets. Rob’s mother and her friend decorated the church beautifully for us on the morning of the wedding.

My dress…

I brought my beautiful gown at The Moderne Bridal in Cork City. When shopping for my dress my only criteria was that it was to have straps and that it was white.  My gown was beautifully complemented by sister’s veil which she let me wear.

My hair and make up…

My hair was completed by my cousin Julie Bannon. Julie is truly a talented stylist and is wonderful at her job and I would recommend her to anyone. Julie goes above and beyond to please.

AJ is a talented makeup artist who was so friendly and professional.

His suit…

Tom Murphy Menswear.

What our bridal party wore…

The girls’ dresses were from The Moderne bridal collection. They were a beautiful royal blue tee length dress. The groomsmen were also dressed by Tom Murphy Menswear.

Our ceremony…

Our ceremony was held at my local church ‘Church of the Most Precious Blood’, in Clogheen.  It is a lovely small church that was beautifully decorated by Rob’s mom and her friend.

We chose our photographer because…

We chose our photographers, Laura and Benny because we were so impressed with their work at my sister’s wedding. They were the first thing we decided on when we got engaged that we wanted Laura and Benny to capture our special day. They are so relaxed and Laura and Benny really became part of our day in a non-intrusive manner. It was refreshing to have them with us and they understand the priority of enjoying the day also.  Receiving the photos, we were amazed at how much they were able to capture the joy we felt.

We chose our venue because…

When we got engaged we had no particular venue in mind. It was suggested that we check out Fernhill House and Gardens and to say I fell in love with the location is an understatement. However, Rob insisted we visit other location before making any decisions. After visiting several beautiful locations Rob ask me where my favourite was and of course it was still Fernhill House with its beautiful garden and fabulous marquee.

Our honeymoon…

Our honeymoon was the trip of a lifetime that we will never forget. We had the perfect amount of adventure and relaxation. We went to Peru to sail the waters of Lake Titicaca, delight in the smells of markets and explore ancient ruins which included a 4-day trek along the Inca Trail. Our first glimpse of Machu Picchu left us in complete awe. We had the amazing experience of spotting macaws in the jungle and caimans on the riverbanks while in the Amazon rainforest. All of this was topped off by a relaxing stay in Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun.

My favourite part of the wedding day…

Rose: I had such a fantastic day it is difficult to pick just one moment. However, the one that stands out the most to me was when my Dad walked me down the aisle. The moment Rob turned around and I saw his face. That is such a special moment to me that I will never forget.

Rob:

As Rose said I was speechless when I saw her for the first time that day. Outside of that no particular moment stood out just generally enjoying the day with family and friends was special

My piece of advice for other couples…

I enjoyed every minute of my day. The day flies by so fast so don’t sweat the small stuff. Everyone is there wants to see you and celebrate with you. If you have good food and music everyone will have a great time. By including our friends and family in the ceremony made it so much more personal to us.

What is it that makes your wedding unique?

My father is car enthusiasts, so we knew from early on that our wedding care would be his blue ford capri. However, days leading up the wedding the car was having a few problems and it was becoming a real possibility that we had no car for the wedding. The day before the wedding the car was fixed and road worthy. Laura got a photo representing the car issues we had. She has a photo of the bridesmaids all dressed up to the nines pushing the car down the driveway.
