A Festive Christmas Wedding With A Travel Theme

Articles, Real Weddings

“We wanted to go for a festive theme coming up to Christmas as we got engaged on Christmas Day 2019. We also had a travel theme with lots of DIY bits. Shortly after we met, I got a job with an airline in the Middle East. We had a long distance relationship for a year and have travelled to many different destinations together over the last 6 years. It was so special to include this in our wedding day.”

Katie and Ciaran met a very traditional Irish way; drunk in the local on a night out. They got engaged on Christmas morning in 2019. Christmas is Katie’s favourite time of year and she was so happy to have all her family there to celebrate with.

Katie got her wedding dress at MK Bridal in Navan. Mairead and her team were amazing and helped Katie when there were loads of restrictions in place.

The suits were from McGeevers Menswear in Ashbourne Co. Meath. Brendan and his team were also amazing and so helpful. Really good customer service and the quality was excellent.

The Bridesmaids dresses were from ASOS and turned out so well. They were so flattering! Katie just wanted her bridesmaids to feel comfortable on the day.

“We went for a traditional church wedding at Holy Trinity Ratoath.”

“Our wedding venue was Trim Castle Hotel. It’s such a stunning venue but the staff really made it for us. They are so genuine and the customer service we received there was second to none.”

“Our photographer was amazing. We were lucky enough to have two, Marcin and Ola. They made the day so fun and I didn’t even realise they were there half the time the pictures turned out stunning.”

“We decided on no favours. The band we chose were the Seducers and they did not disappoint. The dance floor was hopping all night. They were so accommodating to start an hour early for us so we could fit in the DJ before the 12am curfew. They supplied the DJ as well who was great. Would recommend them to anyone who wants an upbeat dance floor.”

Katie’s favourite memory from the wedding day is walking into the venue for dinner seeing, all the families and friends together standing and clapping. It was especially special because of the last two years. Just to be able to spend time and celebrate with loved ones is something none of us will ever take for granted again.

“We spent so much time worrying about restrictions. I wish we would’ve relaxed more in the end. What’s meant to be will be and you will have an amazing day regardless. Take it all in and enjoy it.”
