Meet Edel and Colm! After a longterm engagement and two children the couple chose a beautiful summers day to get married at the sweet little white chapel at Clanard Court Hotel.
Couple: Edel and Colm

Wedding date: 2025-08-16
Wedding venue: Clanard Court Hotel

Edel and Colm met by chance one evening in Edel’s local pub although it would take two proposals and two children before they married!
“Colm first proposed in 2009. We were young and madly in love still deep in the honeymoon period when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him on Valentines day. It was so unexpected but I immediately said yes! Life and with a growing family the wedding got put aside and forgotten about then last year on my birthday I came down for what I taught was breakfast but instead it was a surprise proposal and a promise to marry next year on our anniversary.”
The couple planned a luxury country chic day at Canard Court Hotel with a pretty colour scheme of pink and a pop of purple.
“Everything in this hotel blew us away. The look, the layout, the secret little white chapel, the wedding team, the hospitality, the food, the list goes on!”
Edel wore an off white ballgown, full of sparkles and with a hidden split on the right. Her three bridesmaids wore full length orchid coloured dresses, whilst Colm and his grooms party wore three piece black suits with ties to match the maids.
“Our ceremony was personal and mostly wrote by ourselves. Our 2 children both had readings and our witnesses were both are mothers. We had a unity candle ceremony included and six songs in total, some full length and some snippets throughout. My husbands niece also sung some of the songs for the ceremony too.”
“Our photographer Alan was amazing. We fell in love with his photos straight away and after a phone call we knew he was the one. He was so easy to talk too and easy to have a laugh with.”
Favourite Memory
The part I enjoyed most was the part I was most dreading, the entrance into the reception room. I stressed over the perfect music, the order in which we walk/dance into, having all eyes on me made me uneasy but when the moment came I was so happy and so comfortable to have my hubby by my side I didn’t care about all that stuff! We entered the room full of confidence fully comfortable with each other and soaked it all up. It was amazing, we danced away while parading around the room living our best lives.
Advice for other couples
Embrace everything in the lead up to the big day even the stressful parts. It goes by so fast, in a blink of an eye. Don’t sweat the small things you won’t even notice on the day you’ll be too busy living your best day ever.
