Jessica and Peter met online in 2017. Their first date was in Phoenix Park, the halfway mark between where they each lived (Cobh and Larne).
“Pete proposed on Inis Oirr in September ’21. While my back was turned he tied a small bag to our dog Brenna’s collar which had the ring in it. Once I had taken the bag off her collar he was down on one knee. It was raining so I was wearing a bright yellow coat – I look like I am off a trawler in our proposal photo! It was the most magical moment and the best surprise. Apparently Pete and Brenna had been practicing for months before the big moment!”
They tied the knot right before Halloween so it was an Autumn wedding with Autumn colours and a mix of cute and spooky decorations. Jessica chose flowers to complement her hair colour as well as the dresses.

Jessica’s dress was by Madi Lane, ivory lace over mocha. With the matching veil. Her hair was purple and her boots were ivory with some colour detail (pink, blue, yellow) in them and bows.
Pete wore a patterned suit, burgundy shoes, a brown paddy cap and a floral tie.
Two of the bridesmaids wore burnt orange dresses and two wore burgundy dresses. They all wore rust coloured high heeled sock boots and had matching vintage style jewellery.
The groomsmen wore grey suits and had burgundy or orange tie and burgundy shoes.
Jessica’s mother wore blue and Pete’s mother wore pink. Both fathers wore grey suits with pink or blue ties to match the mams
“Our ceremony was very special. Our priest, Fr. Jim Kileen is a family friend who I’ve known since I was young and Pete’s Dad Andrew is a Methodist minister so together the two of them did our ceremony. Andrew preached the gospel and as a surprise had grown pumpkins with our names and wedding date etched into them, and these featured in the ceremony. I walked up the aisle to She Moved Through the Fair sung by the amazing Caroline Fraher. Friends and family did our readings, prayers and my Aunt Angela read a poem. We signed the green book while Caroline sung All I Ask of You and From this Moment On.”

“Ballycotton, Shanagarry and Garryvoe are special places to us so the Garryvoe Hotel was the ideal venue. We fell in love with it the moment we viewed it and met with the wedding co-ordinator at the time, Ben. The staff were amazing, Aidan decorated the whole place using the decorations I provided him, plenty of pumpkins and skulls for the chic Halloween vibe we were going for. The food was top notch and the service amazing. And because of the seaside location we could all blow away the cobwebs the next day with a sea swim and sauna which loads of our guests gladly joined us for!”

The wedding was beautifully captured by Matt Brooker!
“Matt is the best. He is funny, kind, attention to detail is brilliant. He made everyone feel so relaxed on the day. We have literally over a thousand fabulous photos to remember our special day. He captured photos of all our guests as well which is so special to us. He made me feel beautiful and special on the day. I cannot recommend him enough to anyone planning a wedding!”
For wedding favours, they gave guests masquerade masks! Their band was J90 and the DJ was DJ90. They also had magician Gerard Kearney at the drinks reception – the perfect Halloween wedding entertainment!

Jessica shares her favourite memory from the Big Day:
“Our ceremony was just perfect. Having Pete’s Dad and Jim work together made it so personal and special. I also really enjoyed the craic of getting ready with my bridesmaids, Mam and mother in law. And our photoshoot on Shanagarry beach was very special. Walking into the ballroom hand in hand to all our guests was also wonderful! And before that Pete and I had a quiet moment alone in the library area, sipping a Guinness and revelling in the just married glow together.”
Newlyweds give brilliant advice – this is what Jessica and Pete had to say:
“Enjoy it! Don’t sweat the small stuff and pick what is important to you and your partner. Also people will offer a lot of opinions which you might not agree with so let go of those!”
