“Our wedding at Belleek Castle in October was a romantic, vintage-inspired celebration, filled with character and charm. The theme embraced the castle’s history, with details like antique swords, candlelit tables, and nautical elements, perfectly complemented by earthy tones of cream, gold, and warm autumn foliage. My bouquet featured pampas grass, roses, and dried flowers, which added a boho touch to the day. The weather gifted us a bright and crisp autumn light, creating a magical backdrop for our photos.”
Couple: Kamila and Mathieu
Engagement length: 21 months
Wedding date: 2022-10-01
Wedding location: Belleek Castle, Co Mayo, Ireland
Photographer: Karmilcovas Photography
Kamila and Mathieu met through a mutual friend 13 years ago, in Jersey Channel Island!
Kamila shares their engagement story: “In 2021, amidst Covid challenges, at Hotel Revere in Jersey, Mathieu surprised me on my birthday with an unexpected dinner in the hotel restaurant. It was closed due to Covid, but having it to ourselves with a private chef and waitress felt surreal. Mathieu arranged childcare for our kids, then proposed, jokingly remarking that if we survived the pandemic, we could survive anything.”

Kamila wore an elegant, off-the-shoulder lace gown with a fitted silhouette and a long, flowing train, paired with a soft veil that draped gracefully down her back. Her bouquet combined dried florals, pampas grass, and neutral blooms, creating a timeless, boho-inspired look. She wore pearl drop earrings and kept her hair in soft, vintage waves, with a bold red lip for a touch of old-Hollywood glamour.
Mathieu wore a classic dark suit with a grey waistcoat, a floral tie, and brown leather shoes, adding a relaxed yet sophisticated feel to the day.
They didn’t have traditional bridesmaids or groomsmen, but the flower girls and flower boy stole the show! The girls wore matching white dresses with soft tulle skirts, cosy white shawls, and delicate floral crowns, while their little boy wore a blue check waistcoat, bowtie, and dark trousers. Their son as flower boy and daughter as one of the flower girls made it extra special. The maid of honour and best man chose their own outfits to reflect their personal styles, keeping the look relaxed and natural, fitting the warm, family-focused atmosphere of the day.
“Our ceremony was heartfelt and deeply personal, held in the rustic charm of Belleek Castle’s Ceremony Room. We included a handfasting ceremony, where our hands were bound together with woven cords in autumnal colours, symbolising our union. A harpist played softly throughout, creating a magical atmosphere. As the ceremony was in English, we added a special touch by having my sister read a passage about love from the Bible in Polish, while Mathieu’s aunt read the same passage in French, bringing together our families and cultures.”
The festivities were hosted at the beautiful Belleek Castle!
“We chose Belleek Castle because it offered a real Irish castle experience with a sense of history, charm, and heritage that you just can’t find anywhere else. The real rustic interiors, wood-panelled walls, open fires, and antique treasures like swords and ship models created an atmosphere that felt both magical and intimate. The ceremony space, with its stone walls, candlelit glow, and chandeliers, gave us the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable autumn wedding. Set along the Wild Atlantic Way, Belleek Castle isn’t just a venue, it’s a story, a legacy, and a place where memories are truly made.”
The day was beautifully captured by Karmilcovas Photography!
“I loved our photographer’s style. It was dramatic, powerful, and full of emotion. His artistic approach perfectly matched the real rustic setting of Belleek Castle, and I couldn’t be happier with how they brought our memories to life.”
To entertain their guests, they had a few amazing bands that really set the tone for the whole weekend.
“The night before, we had Rolling Tones playing vinyl in the courtyard during our pre-wedding buffet, which created a great, relaxed atmosphere. On the wedding day, we had a lovely live band, and for the afterparty, Toxic Twins kept the energy high and the dancefloor full. Our guests also enjoyed fun museum tours to break the ice, and we organised babysitters with a dedicated playroom at the castle, which made the day extra special for the little ones and their parents.”
Kamila shares her favourite memory from the day:
“It’s hard to choose just one memory because the whole weekend was absolute perfection. One moment that stands out was my husband’s speech, which was so personal and heartfelt – it really brought tears to my eyes. We also loved how seamless and stress-free the entire weekend was, thanks to Eva, our amazing wedding coordinator, and all the fantastic vendors who made sure everything ran smoothly. It meant we could truly relax and enjoy every moment with our family and friends.”
We love asking newlyweds for their best wedding day advice:
“My advice is to enjoy the whole process and the big day – don’t stress over the things you can’t control. If you have children at your wedding, hire babysitters – it will make a huge difference. Plan at least a two-day wedding if you can, so you have time to connect with everyone you love. Find a quiet moment to spend one-on-one time with your husband, even just for 15 minutes – it’s so important. And a small but fun tip for brides: hold your bouquet low – keep the flowers near the bush!”
