Caolán and Hayley chose to keep their celebration small and intimate, with only 30 of their friends and family. Then in the evening, everybody joined in for a party and dancing. They opted for a simple decor theme of white and gold.

Caolán and Hayley met on a night out when they were teenagers and they have been side by side ever since! They’ve travelled a lot together and got engaged at Christmas time when Caolán surprised Hayley with a trip to Donegal. “He had told me a story involving his Nana who I adore to trick me as to why we were going to Donegal so I didn’t question it too much. It was the time of storm Barbara so he was looking out the window waiting for the rain to stop before we took a walk! He proposed on his favourite beach where he has spent all his childhood holidays. He told me he wanted me to have it as a special place for me too. We set the wedding to be on our 10 year anniversary!”

Caolán and Hayley chose to keep their celebration small and intimate, with only 30 of their friends and family. Then in the evening, everybody joined in for a party and dancing. They opted for a simple decor theme of white and gold. Their cake, made by a family friend, was marble with gold flakes and their flowers were put together by Hayley’s mam. It really was a family affair!

Hayley’s wedding dress was a beautiful two-piece from Alice May Bridal, paired with her sister’s veil as her ‘something borrowed’. “I went for a vintage Hollywood curl in my hair which was beautiful as I had never had it done before so it made me feel special for the day. My hairdresser Denise Bray is so talented and so much fun to have around. We all had a great laugh getting ready. My best friend from school did my makeup and it was so lovely having her there on the morning of the wedding. We did a subtle smokey makeup look, I loved it and felt so glam!”

“My two gorgeous sisters also wore separates! A beautiful gold skirt and ivory embellished top both from Folkster.”

Caolán and Hayley’s ceremony was in Dublin City Hall, which is breathtakingly beautiful. It was an intimate and personal ceremony, with just 30 people there. They created their own ceremony, with the help of their humanist celebrant, Lucy O Sullivan. Their band, Poplife, sang at the ceremony too, which was a special touch and created a wonderful atmosphere.

“We picked The Dean for our wedding as we both loved its decor and vibe! We danced the night away with our favourite people. We can’t recommend our bad Poplife enough. They were so fabulous and had the dance floor packed all night. They were so lovely to work with. We still try and go see them at gigs when we can! Big shout out also to our videographer Emma who was so lovely to have around us on the day and made us feel so comfortable. We are left with amazing videos to look at to relive the day. And our photographer Ruth who was so great on the day and organising everything and capturing the day so beautifully and is also a really nice person to be around. We are so happy with the pictures she created for us!”

“My favourite feeling from the day was walking up the aisle seeing my husband’s face at the top of the aisle looking at me. There may have been tears. All from him.”

“The funniest memory was my dad driving me in a vintage Morris minor to the ceremony from home with the heating on in the heatwave afraid to touch any buttons in case we broke down on the way, we were both roasting. And it got even funnier after the ceremony when I jumped in the back and my husband thought he wouldn’t fit so he took the front seat beside dad as dad drove us to our hotel! How funny must that of looked me in the back on my own it still makes me giggle!”

“Remember to make the day about you both and enjoy snippets of the day with just you two because it goes super fast and you need to savour the little moments! I would advise a videographer to capture your day as we still love to watch back our day and bring all the fabulous memories back and get all the feels again!”
