“We had always intended on having a Summer wedding. May was always going to be a great choice! I wanted my flowers to tie in with my dress and a pop of pastel pink was added to tie in with the green shades Jeff and our children had in their outfits.”

Rachael and Jeff have been together for over 14 years! This is their proposal story, told from Rachael’s perspective:
“We were meant to head out with friends and he had some sort of plan but it was cancelled. And so it being two days before Christmas, he proposed in front of the Christmas tree. It was really lovely, emotional and private!”
“We had an intimate registry office ceremony, followed by lunch, then later on a prosecco reception and dinner, and danced the night away with all of our guests! We had always intended on having a Summer wedding. May was always going to be a great choice! I wanted my flowers to tie in with my dress and a pop of pastel pink was added to tie in with the green shades Jeff and our children had in their outfits. With decor I didn’t have much to be doing as Newbridge Silverware is just so stunning as it is! The drawing room is beautifully decorated and was perfect for a vintage feel also.”
Rachael wore a beautiful ankle length ivory dress with matching pearl strapped shoes. She was kindly given her hairpiece by a friend, her necklace is from Six, her earrings are from Earsense, and her Newbridge Silverware bracelet was also kindly given to her by another dear friend.
Jeff wore a stunning green suit paired with brown shoes.
Their son Lucas wore a green and white suit also paired with brown shoes, and their daughter Isla wore a beautiful green dress with glittery white heels.
“Our ceremony was beautiful, short, sweet, intimate, some humour thrown in too! No extras, I made my grand entrance, and it was just us, and 14 of our loved ones. It was perfect!”
This celebration began with an intimate registry office ceremony at Naas Registry Office, followed by lunch at Osprey Hotel and then Prosecco, dinner and dancing at Newbridge Silverware.
“Originally when we got engaged we were fully sure a destination wedding was on the cards as we knew how expensive weddings in Ireland can be. So as we wanted to do the “official” stuff here we figured just something small in Ireland for the day and leave the partying for abroad. Then, things changed, in a short space of time! We got our green folder in November and shortly after had booked a local place for a little after party, nothing too crazy. But then we realised it just wasn’t for us, and it actually was starting to make us feel deflated, there seemed to be many blocks in our way, it wasn’t for us. So in February we decided to cancel and look at other venues, I emailed any and all other options we had. Then I remembered seeing months back that Newbridge Silverware had function rooms. So I sent an email, hoped for the best, and then I was one phone call away from booking our perfect place! It was the beginning of something special! Little did I know almost 14 years ago when I moved to Newbridge, that such an iconic place would be my wedding venue one day!”
The wedding was beautifully captured by ‘By Shauntelle Weddings’ as well as ‘WeddingPixie’!
“We had By Shauntelle Weddings for our photography during the ceremony and after ceremony. Shauntelle was amazing, so kind and patient! The photos she produced were just amazing and I would highly recommend her. Extremely affordable and so so approachable and easy to deal with!
I also won a package with Wedding Pixie on the HIGM page. This was incredible to have and I’d also highly recommend! We got over 300 photos and videos from our wedding party, candid memories to cherish forever!”
To entertain their guests, they had a DJ for the party, where they were able to choose their own wedding party playlist.
They kept the wedding favours very relaxed by turning to Shein. Rachael bought tinned tea light candles with a beautiful “thank you” sticker displayed and a scented tea light inside.
The guestbook was a canvas map of the world, so everybody could sign it. Now, the happy couple has some lovely signatures and well wishes displayed.
The candy cart and popcorn machine were extremely popular with guests!
Rachael shares her favourite memory from the day:
“Seeing my husband choke up, and then me forgetting my line, this gave us a right giggle! My dad making faces at me for a photo – typical Dad!”
We asked Jeff and Rachael for their best wedding advice for other couples. Here’s what they had to say:
“Don’t sweat the small stuff. Make lists. Have everything written in one place. Keep track of your spends/what’s owed so you don’t have any surprises! Just remember, the little things don’t really matter, nobody will notice if something is missing, only you will! Enjoy every minute, it really does go by in a flash!”
