A Three Day Wedding Celebration in Italy

Articles, Real Weddings

Say hello to Síofra and Shane, a beautiful couple who tied the knot in a three day wedding celebration in Italy! We love that they set the tone for the weekend by welcoming guests with a pizza party at sunset. From then on, everything was very relaxed and embraced the rustic tones of light blue, white and green.

Couple: Síofra Kennedy and Shane Mc Grath

Síofra and Shane met in Chicago, while on holiday visiting friends for the summer. They had lots in common and instantly hit it off! Síofra tells their engagement story so beautifully:

“We were away on a holiday where we visited a few spots in Mexico and Belize. On a very starry night on the island of Caye Caulker in Belize, Shane suggested a stroll after dinner out on one of the wooden piers that branch off the island. We both sat down to look at the stars. After a few minutes, Shane stood up on one knee and said the nicest things before asking me to marry him. Of course, I said yes and we both were so delighted. It was incredible.”

The festivities kicked off with a pizza party at sunset to welcome all the guests. This gave Síofra and Shane the opportunity to connect with each of their guests in the beautiful walled garden at Castello di Montignano. This really set the tone for the next few days.

The theme for the wedding day was rustic using the colours light blue, white and greens. It was a relaxed affair with swims in the morning in the pool onsite, followed by the ceremony and a wedding dinner outside under lights as the sun set. A surprise firework display for the bride and the guests set the tone for the great dancing and party that followed into the early hours of the next morning.

The Third Day included a barbecue with live music around the pool.

Síofra wore a light and flowy dress with a deep V at the back from the brand, Rembo Styling. Her hair was in a simple low bun and a veil that fell from below the bun.

Shane wore a light blue jacket with navy trousers held up by breeches. He wore a crisp white shirt and a dark dickie-bow. He wore brown loafers which matched the colour of the breeches.

The bridesmaids wore flowy light blue dresses that were a little shorter at the front to reveal gold heels.

The groomsmen wore light grey jackets with shirt, pants, breeches and loafers to match the groom.

Their ceremony took place in the small Catholic Church down a cobbled street behind the wedding venue. Gentle music from guitar, harp and vocals were performed throughout. Family members and friends read specially selected readings.

Síofra and Shane say that Castello di Montignano was a dream venue.

“It was everything you could ever want or need in the one place. From the ancient but modern castle to the cobbled streets and walled gardens it really has everything you want. What makes it really special is the friendly and hospitable staff.”

They kept the entertainment simple, with the Florence Acoustic duo singing and playing during the ceremony. They had a harp and guitar and played selected songs. Síofra and Shane then had Sax n’Pulse play a 5/6 DJ set with saxophone and drums.

Síofra and Shane both have so many great memories from the wedding day, and found it very hard to pick just one. One moment they both really liked was listening to the lovely speeches of family and friends under the twinkling lights as the sun set.

Their advice for couples getting married?

“Get married in Castello di Montignano in Italy. You won’t regret it!”
