We met… in Darwin, Australia three years ago on Anzac day. We ended up going out on our first date a week later and the rest is history. However, it wasn’t until Gavin sent us the video that I realised, we had actually met before this and Mike remembered it very well.

Our proposal… As Michael is from Australia, he really wanted to go back to Ireland and meet my family and see some of the sites. So we planned a trip. Without knowing, Mike had asked my Dad for my hand in marriage. This was just before we headed off on our own, exploring the West of Ireland for a few days. As Mike had never been to a castle, we decided to splurge and stay in Dromoland Castle for a night. The only room they had left was in the top of the tower, which just happened to have sneaky set of stairs up to the roof. We of course went up to have a little look and while we were there peering over the wall, Mike decided that this was the moment. He got down on one knee and he asked me to marry him. I cried for a bit and then I said of course, without any hesitation. Once we got back to the room, I could finally see my beautiful ring and was amazed to see that he had had his late mother’s ring altered for me, a family heirloom from the early 1900’s. I was absolutely dumbfounded by this and couldn’t have imagined, or wanted a more special, and beautiful ring.

My dress… was by Tamem Michael from his La Sposa Range and my veil was designed and hand made by Tamem Michael.

My hair and make-up… My make-up was by Yvonne Maher from Midas Touch Beauty Salon and my hair was was by Dee from Rapunzel’s Hairdressers in Tallaght.

His suit… The boys all wore suits from Protocol Menswear.

What our bridal party wore… The bridesmaids dresses were After Six by Dessy.

We chose our videographer because… We had reviewed a huge number of videographers and watched umpteen videos. However, Dreamcatcher Productions was the one that kept popping back up time and time again. Their work looked so creative and professional. Once we started to communicate with Gavin, we were sold. He was extremely helpful, full of great ideas and was absolutely thorough and professional from the moment we booked him, right up until the big day.

We chose our venue because… We really wanted to stay in Dublin, as we had so many guests travelling from abroad and felt it would be unfair to ask them to travel after they had flown from all over the world. So we decided to try find a venue in Dublin. Luttrellstown Castle popped up and it looked amazing. The staff were very organised, nothing was a problem, and they were open to negotiating the run of events, as well as catering for any food requirements. To use the castle we had to hire the entire place for the day. This however meant that we had 12 bedrooms for our bridal party and guests to use. The cost of the food was very reasonable in comparison to some other venues we had looked at, it was absolutely beautiful and the package included arrival drinks, canapés, main meal and evening food. The following day we had a BBQ and all our guests had free reign to explore the grounds or hang out in the castle bar or pool room. They also invited Mike and I back, if we ever wanted to reminisce our special day.

My favourite part of the wedding day… My favourite moment for the entire day would have to be sitting at the altar, with Mike holding my shaking hands throughout our ceremony. Very near second would have to be the moment we stole a very sneaky kiss when the priest wasn’t looking. Mind you, our guests gave us away….
