How did you meet and get engaged?
We met as teenagers on the school bus, began dating and the rest is history. We only spoke about getting engaged once and it was that we both agreed we would like it to be a surprise. In January 2018 Daire planned a night away in Druids Glen in Wicklow and proposed there. It may not have been a surprise to family and friends considering how long we were together but it was to me and I couldn’t have been happier.

Describe your wedding:
The theme for the wedding was greenery. As the venue was so beautiful we wanted to keep things very simple with flowers and decoration. My bouquet was made of eucalyptus, olive and white flowers. Our table runner was eucalyptus and white candles, it was beautiful when the sun set. Our florist Debra and team did an amazing job.

Tell us about your bridal look:
My dress was Pronovias from Love Ellie Bridal in Virginia in County Cavan. It was light and comfortable, exactly what I was looking for in the Italian heat. I am a qualified make up artist so was always going to do my own makeup, my main focus was making it as heat resistant as possible. I had a hairdresser booked for my hair but I ended up doing it as I really just wanted to look and feel like myself.

What did your bridesmaids wear?
I had one bridesmaid, my gorgeous sister Alicia, she wore a chalk green multiway dress from ASOS.

What was your ceremony like?
Our ceremony was intimate and held within the Secret Garden in Borgo di Tragliata. We spoke online on various occasions with our celebrant Giuseppe before the wedding but we were blown away by the personal nature of the ceremony. We had piano instrumentals of our favourite songs played by The Waistcoats. Family members and friends kindly read readings that meant a lot to us.

Tell us about your wedding venue:
From the moment I saw pictures of Borgo di Tragliata, I knew I wanted to get married there. I just had to convince Daire! It is an absolutely stunning venue in a remote location just outside Rome. On viewing we loved the relaxed feeling of the venue and the food and wine was incredible. We were very excited for our guests to experience this also. Cristiana, Siliva and team are amazing at what they do. From the moment we arrived we were able relax knowing everything was going to be taken care of. We had three days and nights of celebration, the first being the welcome bbq, the wedding day and finally a farewell pizza party with some karaoke thrown in for good measure.

What is your favourite memory from your wedding day?
The whole day was more than we could have ever imagined but our stand out moment was arriving at our dinner table. We had a banquet style table set for our 75 guests and we loved having our friends and family in each other’s company. We will be forever grateful to everyone who travelled to celebrate, eat and drink with us while the sun set over Borgo.

Have you got any advice for other couples?
Relax, relax, relax! It all works out! Obviously you have to do the work in planning but the most important thing is that you are surrounded by the people who you love most on your special day.
