Ask the Experts: What Should I Bring to My Wedding Dress Appointments & Fittings?

Fashion & Jewellery, Planning & Advice

Wedding dress shopping is lots of fun, but unlike shopping for a dress for a party or an event, there’s a few things you need to keep in mind! Most bridal shops will require an appointment so make sure to ring and book one in advance – heads up, weekends and evenings will be busy so give yourself plenty of time to book it in! It’s also a good idea to book just a few shops per day – cramming in too many will just end up confusing you (side note – wedding dresses can be heavy so you might find you’re exhausted if you’ve too many shops to get to). When it comes to what to bring to your appointments and of course your dress fittings once you’ve chosen ‘the one’, we asked the experts themselves – the bridal boutiques – what to pop in your bag for this fun planning milestone! Here’s what they had to say…

What to bring to the Appointment…

When going for a bridal appointment, don’t wear any instant false tan – it ruins gowns – especially when they’re ivory. Wear nude seamless underwear if possible. Bring a pair of heels, and a good strapless bra. And bring an open mind – we’re here to help you find the dress of your dreams.

An open mind and a positive attitude! Comfortable clothes that are easy to get in and out of and a strapless bra are advised but not essential. We provide the rest!

For your appointment with us you should bring slip on shoes, nude undergarments and hair bobbins if you wish to wear your hair up on your big day. For your dress fittings, at your alteration stage, you will need your shoes and undergarments including cups you wish to wear on your wedding day.

Your Final Dress Fittings…

You will need the underwear you will be wearing and your shoes, those would be the most important things to bring for your final fitting, and bring any accessories you have to see the full effect.

When attending your bridal fitting make sure to bring your shoes and underwear you intend to wear on your wedding day. Without them, your dress can not be altered!
