Martina and James met during a night out in The Squealing Pig in Monaghan through mutual friends;

‘We got engaged in Glasson Lakehouse while out on the lake in a boat. It was the best surprise and very romantic.’

‘Ballymagarvey Village was simply magical, everything from the food to the staff and decorations was more than perfect. We fell in love with it the first time we visited and it lived up to our expectations!’

The couple chose a black and white theme with a touch of gold for their wedding day which took place on 30th December, perfectly positioned between Christmas and New Year. The weather was dry and sunny which was beautiful for a winter wedding. They had personalised sweet box’s for all the kids, a welcome sign with matching flowers, personalised drink stirrers, thank you cards on the tables and personalised tissues for the happy tears in the ceremony room.

Keeping with their monochrome theme Martina wore a long sleeve fitted dress by Justin Alexander with a long veil and James wore a black tuxedo. The bridesmaids wore black full length dresses and they carried neutral bouquets of white roses and seasonal greenery.

‘Our ceremony was our favourite part, I walked down the aisle to a beautiful version of Can’t Help Falling In Love by Kina Grannis, our two  girls were part of our wedding party ( Sophie-Rose as a chief bridesmaid and Ellie-Mae as a cutest little flower girl ) they both helped us light our marriage candle. One of the readings was a beautiful poem ‘ A wedding blessing from heaven’ read beautifully by Trea who is a close friend of mine in memory of my daddy and James’s mammy. Our exit song was one of our favourite songs ‘Forever After All’ by Luke Combs.

Feedback on the photographer: Andrei is the most amazing photographer and videographer, so talented! Him and his team made the day a joyful experience , the photos speak for themselves. We met Andrei for the first time for our engagement photos and we were so impressed with the photos we knew there and then that we couldn’t wait for him to capture our wedding.

‘Our entertainment was a no brainer picking the band Deja Vu as our close friend Mark plays in it. They exceeded our expectations and all our guests talked about how amazing the band and DJ were. It was some party!’

Favourite memory:

Definitely the ceremony as it was very emotional and personal and the dancing – having the best time with our favourite people.

Advice for other couples:

Don’t stress about the small details and do what makes you both happy, don’t worry about other peoples opinions & enjoy every minute of it.
