A Romantic Blush Pink and Champagne Wedding

Real Weddings

“I knew I didn’t want any bold colours and just wanted to keep the colours very dainty and light. I also didn’t want to restrict myself to one colour.. so we decided to keep to a variation of soft romantic colours… eg blush pink, champagne, creams etc.”

Venue: Anglers Rest

Photographer: MG Photography

Where we met: We met in Chartbusters in 2005. As friends first and then in 2011 we became a couple!

Our proposal: John asked me to marry him the day before we moved to Sweden. I had two requests that he did if he ever was to propose. 1) Get down on one knee and 2) ask my dad for my hand in marriage. I’m happy to report that he did both.

Our wedding theme: We got married in Anglers Rest and I thought it was a very relaxed and romantic venue. I knew I didn’t want any bold colours and just wanted to keep the colours very dainty and light. I also didn’t want to restrict myself to one colour.. so we decided to keep to a variation of soft romantic colours… eg blush pink, champagne, creams etc.

Things we DIY’d: Table seating chart …. We have lived in many countries and so have our children so we decided to name the tables all the towns we have lived in. Malaga, Skerries, Upsalla, Tully, Brisbane, Madrid, Charleroi, Gran Canaria, Wildau, Florida. I bought a map in Ikea and pinned each town and assigned people to each town.

My dress: The White Room.

My hair and makeup: My hair was done by Ali O’Leary Hair. And my makeup was done by EF Creative studios Emma Farrell.

His suit: Best Menswear.

What our bridal party wore: The bridesmaids wore dresses from Asos. And the groomsmen wore suits from Best Menswear.

Our ceremony: We had a humanist ceremony which we loved! Emma Sides was the celebrant and we loved every second. We had a sand ceremony – we went and got sand with our children from Skerries Beach the week before and used it for the sand ceremony.

We chose our photographer because: Michael Grubka MG – photography. Michael was the photographer for a family photoshoot for my Mum’s 60th. We have two young children and he was amazing with them. He was very warm and a lovely genuine person. So when we needed a wedding photographer it was a no brainer really.

We chose our wedding coordinator: Noeleen was our wedding coordinator worked in Anglers Rest.

We chose our venue because: It was our “date night” restaurant over the years and we loved the food and relaxed and warm atmosphere.

Our menu:

Starter: Choice of one

Citrus Potted Crab with Lobster, Carrot and Fennel Salad

Duck Liver and Foie Gras Parfait, Pear Chutney and Toasted Brioche

Cream of Leak and Potato

Main: choice of one

Beef Gillet with Spring Mash, Baby Veg Bouquet, and Red Wine Jus

Pan Fried Chicken Breast, Pomme Puree, Roast Parsnip, Smoked Bacon and Tarrogan Jus

Seared Organic Salmon, Basil Pomme Puree, Mixed Bean and Oven Dried Tomato Salsa

Dessert: choice of one

Granny Smith Vanilla Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice-cream

Winter Berry Cheesecake Crème Anglaise, Berry Foam

Our honeymoon: Japan. We travelled to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Tokyo and Hakone.

My favourite part of the wedding day: The humanist ceremony and how personal it was. And I loved our singing waiters who surprised everyone after dessert. They were dressed as waiters and began to sing opera after dessert. Everyone commented on how amazing they were.

My piece of advice to other couples: Don’t get too caught up in the small details on the planning of your wedding. Savour each moment as it happens on the day.
