Booking Your Autumn or Winter Suppliers: Why Summer is the Time to Do It

Planning & Advice

If you’re planning an autumn or winter wedding in Ireland, you might think you have all the time in the world to sort out the details. After all, summer is just getting into full swing, surely things can wait a little longer, right? Not quite.

Summer is actually the time to book your wedding suppliers for later in the year or even next year. Here’s why acting now can make all the difference to your Big Day.

1. Suppliers Are in Demand All Year Round

While summer is traditionally peak wedding season, more and more couples are choosing the cosy, atmospheric vibes of autumn and winter weddings. That means venues, photographers, florists, and celebrants are staying busy year-round, especially the really good ones. Waiting until September or October to book could leave you with fewer options and a lot more stress.

2. You’ll Get Ahead of the Rush

Once September hits, there’s often a mad dash of couples finalising details for their weddings in the cooler months. If you book your suppliers in July or August, you’re ahead of the curve, and you’ll have a better chance of securing your top choices, without competing with last-minute bookings.

3. Time to Personalise Your Plans

Booking early gives you time to collaborate with your suppliers, rather than rushing decisions. Whether it’s creating a bespoke floral arrangement with your florist or working out a tailored menu with your caterer (think hearty stews, mulled wine and seasonal veg), starting in summer gives you breathing room to make it your own.

4. Lock in This Year’s Prices Before They Go Up

Many suppliers review their pricing towards the end of the year. By booking in summer, you’re more likely to lock in current rates, helping you stay within budget. This is especially relevant for popular suppliers who may raise their prices for the next wedding season.

5. Avoid Seasonal Surprises

Booking in advance gives you a chance to have proper conversations about seasonal logistics. For example, will your venue need extra heating? Does your photographer need to adjust their timeline for the earlier sunset? Does your cake designer need to tweak ingredients for colder weather? Sorting these out in summer helps ensure your autumn or winter wedding runs smoothly.

6. Peace of Mind During a Busy Season

Let’s be honest, autumn and winter are already full of other commitments: back-to-school routines, end-of-year work pressures, and the holidays. Getting your suppliers booked now means one less thing to worry about when life inevitably speeds up again.
