2017 bridal makeup trends are all about letting your natural beauty shine through. You will see a move away from heavy contoured face to more healthy, radiant, conditioned skin. A healthy skin regime is crucial for the run up to your wedding to ensure your skin is well hydrated and exfoliated. A good highlighter such as Laura Mercier Face Illuminator is key and will add and reflect light to your face giving you fresh, dewy and healthy looking skin. It will also work at making your best features more pronounced. Fresh breathable looking skin on your wedding day is beautiful teamed with either a bold eye or lip.

Big beautiful eyes will never go out of fashion when it comes to bridal makeup. Full natural brows are hugely on trend for 2017 as we wave goodbye to the harsh stencilled look. A good brow shape acts as an instant eye lift framing the face and is essential for pulling your overall look together. I recommend all my brides to see an eyebrow specialist on the lead up to their wedding to achieve an optimal eyebrow shape, particularly if they have over-plucked in the past. Metallic eyes are another 2017 trend that has been spotted time and time again on the catwalk. Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Eyes to Mesmerise’ range is a particular favourite of mine on my brides as it gives a visibly more youthful finish. Also a more relaxed eyeliner has hit the bridal fashion shows and the emphasis is on a soft romantic style eye. A blended out eyeliner is definitely taking over from the more harsh liquid liner.

Finally matte dark lips have dominated the past few years. However in 2017 there will be shift from matte to more hydrated looking lips. A high shine lipgloss is right on trend at the moment along with creamy and satin berry tones for added dimension. Whether a bride chooses a more natural or bolder makeup look on their wedding day, there is nothing more timeless and beautiful than their natural radiance that will always shine through which is unique to the bride and will never go out of style.

The 2017 Bridal Fashion Weeks offered so much fabulous inspiration that can easily translate from runway to aisle while remaining classic and timeless, important to consider as you will be looking at your pictures for a lifetime! The focus on skin is much less about glittery looking skin and more about a fresh, dewy, vibrant face that looks as though it’s naturally flawless and youthful, not heavily made-up. To achieve this look, take your layering game to new levels – prepare your skin first by spritzing with a hydrating mist, skip the moisturiser (just for that day!) and straight to a beautiful illuminating primer. After your base, lightly layer cream highlighters and subtle cream contour followed by the powder versions. Super fine, well blended layers is key here for luminosity and longevity.

For eyes, my favourite trend this season is gorgeous glowing rose gold eyeshadow, it’s one of those metallic shades that always looks romantic. Metallic in general can appear edgy, but this rosy shade is just darling for a bride and is flattering to almost every eye colour. It’s a trend that will look great paired with any kind of dress style; since it is a rather muted, nude tone for a metallic eyeshadow, it will bolster your face’s natural youth and beauty and leave your skin glowing. Paired with a subtle pop of a pearly colour just in the tear duct corner of your eyes to play up your peepers. Delicate, ethereal, and so stunning.

The full strong brow that has been in fashion for the past couple of years has paved way for a more beautiful natural looking brow – no heavy tattoo like coverage needed, Hallelujah! Whatever style you choose – traditional and romantic, edgy and boho-chic or sultry and glamorous, make sure you feel like you – just the most beautiful polished version of yourself.

The majority of bridal looks will continue on from 2016, however, they will be brought to another level. Here’s a couple of different trends and there is something for everybody. It’s very important to go to a professional makeup artist for the bridal trial as we’re all unique with different personalities. A popular trend with a ‘tweak’ by a makeup artist might just be the right thing for you.

Minimalistic/Boho – ‘Healthy’, ‘just went for a run’ skin is going to be huge, your skin will look like it has a gorgeous inner glow. Another popular look will be bitten/stained lips with minimum eye makeup. Natural big brows are making a big comeback.

Classic Glamour – An orange red lipstick with a matte finish and winged eyeliner is still going strong but skin is highlighted rather than matte.

MonochromeMatching lips and eyes are going to be the new romantic look for 2017. Think soft pinks, lilac or any pastel tones.

Smokey Eyes – This is one of my favourite looks. Smokey eyes are still going strong in Ireland, however, to bring it up to date, replace the dark eye with a more metallic finish – this is the high wattage shine look. Layer your highlighters on the cheekbones, eyes and even the lips. Pearl, bronze or shimmers will give the desired precious metal look. Strobe your skin. Contouring is on the way out.
