The Best of Bridesmaid Dress Trends 2016 – Part 1

Bridesmaids

There are some seriously stunning bridesmaids trends on their way for spring summer 2016. Here’s our guide to the best of them!

PSST! Don’t forget to come back for Part 2 tomorrow!

Bridesmaid Trend #1: Pretty Floral Prints

We spotted a couple of gorgeous floral maids in real weddings this year, and the trend seems to be growing in popularity for 2016. Floral prints look great on any shape or size but there’s a danger of them dating. To avoid this, go for light colours (floral print on white looking particularly well for summer weddings) and make sure it really suits your wedding theme (i.e. perfect for a countryside wedding outdoors, not so great at a black tie wedding in a very traditional hotel). If you’ve a large bridal party and are finding the floral print is a bit much, mix and match it with some block colours to really break it up. For a great example of how to work mixed prints in light fabrics check out the couture collection from Pretty Plum Sugar (pictured above).

Bridesmaid Trend #2: One-Shoulder Stunners

One shoulder dresses are a gorgeous way to wear something a little bit different, but completely classic and timeless. Most bridesmaids collections for 2016 have featured at least one one-shoulder gown in their range and used it as a chance to add some gorgeous embellishments. The trick with one shoulder gowns is to get your undergarments right of course. A good strapless bra can do wonders, but if one of the girls has a bigger bust this might not be comfortable, so bear that in mind before you pay your deposits!

Bridesmaid Trend #3: Beautiful Blues

Along with pink, blue is going to be a huge colour in weddings next year and one place we’re seeing it at its best is in bridesmaid dresses. Pale blue gowns aren’t the easiest to pull off so make sure all your bridesmaids are happy with them before you go ahead with your purchase! Remember that pale blue works better with silver jewellery and accessories and will look great with a little bit of sparkle added to it. A bold red lip will work really well with this look!

Bridesmaid Trend #4: Sequins & Separates

Separates for bridesmaids have been an alternative trend for a while now, but a twist on the trend that’s going to be huge for 2016 is the sequin separate. The best thing about this style is that it gives bridesmaids a chance to dress to their own style and shape, to feel super glam but also feel like an individual on the dancefloor! If the idea of matching outfits doesn’t get you excited however you can cheat your way to the look with a sequin top or skirt dress like the ones below.

Bridesmaid Trend #5: Sweet Tea-Lengths

Tea length is the perfect length for spring/summer weddings, it looks fresh and flattering and allows you to show off a gorgeous pair of heels! While the retro, tulip style tea-length was all the rage for the last few years, a more understated and classic look is coming into vogue for 2016 bridesmaids. We’re loving soft tulle styles, and the huge range of multi-way tea-length dresses that can be found from designer stores to the high street.
