We met… at work. He was coming in for an interview at the law firm and I was the receptionist that had signed him in. We immediately became friends and after his various attempts of asking me out over the course of five months, I finally agreed to go on a date and it has been perfect since.

My hair and make-up… I chose Zoe Clark to do my make-up and I was extremely delighted with her. I booked a make-up trial with her months in advance and she took her time to make sure I was happy with the results. On the day of the wedding, she was amazing! We chose a natural look on the face and lips with a little more emphasis on the eyes. As for my hair, Gemma from Whetstone beautifully arranged my hair into a half up-do. Both Gemma and Zoe created a joyous and funny atmosphere and were the calming influences on the morning of the wedding.

My dress… I always knew that I wanted a dress that is not white or ivory. I picked a champagne/blush lace dress from Allure Bridals. It had a beautiful tiered train and I was absolutely in love with it!

What our bridal party wore… Because each bridesmaid had different body types, I asked each of them to choose any style of the same colour chiffon dress from the Angelina Faccenda Mori Lee collection. It was important to me that all of the brides felt both comfortable and beautiful. It was nice to see how each of the various cuts represented their personalities.

Our ceremony… took place at St. Mochta’s Church. It was a traditional church ceremony. The priest that married us was the same priest that married Andrew’s parents 32 years ago. It was a special heartfelt moment!

We chose our venue because… I loved the idea of having both the old part of Carton House for the pre-reception and the modern part for the reception. The grounds also have a sophisticated appeal that was truly enchanting.

We chose our photographer because… after researching online for days for a photographer, I stumbled upon The Fennells’ website. Their pictures were absolutely gorgeous and I immediately knew their photography style was what I was looking for. Mark Fennell also had a great personality when we met him and made us feel much more comfortable and at ease. From the moments of potentially booking to the wedding day itself, Mark and Fiona were a pleasure to deal with. They also gave us tips for the day that we hadn’t even thought about. We are absolutely delighted with our photographs and we would recommend them to all future newly-weds!

My favourite part of the wedding day… was during the meal. I took a moment and looked around at all my guests laughing and having a great time. It was a touching and powerful moment to see how many people were there to support us. It also made us feel so loved that so many of our friends and family travelled so far to come see us and share our day.

Our honeymoon… took place in Gran Canaria for five days. Our mini honeymoon, as we call it, was short as we had to go back to Toronto for work. We plan to take two weeks later on the year and explore Italy and Croatia.

My piece of advice for other brides… Have the best time of your life! From the engagement, preparations to the wedding day itself, enjoy it as much as you can. It goes far too quickly! Don’t become so detail focused as this will inadvertently pile on additional unnecessary stress. If small details go wrong, it’s likely that you’re the only one who will notice.
