“My favourite part was just the two of us stopping off for a bowl of chips and a pint on the Cill Airne boat on the Quays on the way to Clontarf Castle.”
The couple: Deirdre Crosbie & Paul Shanahan
Length of engagement: 1 year | Wedding date: 12th December 2013
Wedding venue: Clontarf Castle, Dublin
Photographer: Suzanne – Circus Photography
We met… through mutual friends, we both grew up in Templeogue and went to the same school. We were friends for many years before we went on our first date to Yamamori on Georges Street.
Our proposal… was on our fourth anniversary at home in Lucan.
Our wedding theme/colours… a cosy Christmas feel with lots of candles, a roaring fire and Christmas lights.
Our ceremony… was held at the Unitarian Church on Stephens Green on an unusually warm day in December!
My dress… My dress was Augusta Jones’ ‘Ali’ from Marie McElheron Bridal in Arklow.
What our bridal party wore… Our groomsmen wore suits from Next and our bridesmaids wore dresses from Bridal Designs on Aungier Street.
We chose our venue because… of the cosy Christmas feel at Clontarf Castle; the roaring fire, a grand piano in the reception area, the huge Christmas trees and beautiful decorations!
We chose our photographer because… We came across Suzanne’s (Circus Photography) website and loved her style of photography. We wanted natural pictures of the day which we feel she captured beautifully.
My favourite part of the wedding day… Just the two of us stopping off for a bowl of chips and a pint on the Cill Airne boat on the Quays on the way to Clontarf Castle.
Our honeymoon… We went to Secrets Maroma in Cancun, Mexico.
My piece of advice for other brides… Don’t stress about the small stuff, you won’t even notice on the day!
