Emily and Dylan met during their final year of secondary school at French Grinds;
‘I had been attending since the September and one of Dylan’s best friend (who ended up being a groomsman!) and Dylan joined the following January. Our tutor had assigned Dylan and I to work on an assignment together so I told him to add me on Facebook to discuss it and we never stopped talking!’

Shortly after their 9 year anniversary together, Dylan and Emily purchased their first home;
‘On our first Christmas morning, after months of renovations Dylan had told me he had a surprise for my Christmas present and it was something to do with our mantle piece in the living room so he would need some time to set it up. He brought me into the living room with my eyes closed and had a Jonas Brothers (my favourite band ever) Christmas song playing in the background. When I opened my eyes a a banner was hung above our tv saying “Will you marry me?” He got down on one knee. I was in absolute shock and said yes immediately! He recorded the whole thing on his phone for us to watch back. It was the most perfect day as we spent it with our families and sharing the celebrations.’

‘Without sounding cliche the theme was definitely Bridgerton. I wanted something classy and timeless and as soon as we viewed the first venue, Killashee House it screamed Bridgerton! We picked soft pink and white flowers and gold accents for all of our decor. My mom had DIY’d all of our invitations which looked like they were straight out of Bridgerton.’

Emily wore her mums wedding dress to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding which was custom-made by Maggie Sottero;
‘For the wedding day, Dylan had picked out a dark green velvet tux with a black bowtie and I had worn a Milla Nova ball gown that was covered in sparkles. It truly looks like something straight out of a Cinderella movie. Keeping in with the theme of classy and timeless I opted to go for a light gold champagne colour for my bridesmaids and man of honour. For the groomsmen we kept in with the same and they had timeless black tuxedos.’

‘Our ceremony was absolutely beautiful. We had the most amazing priest Father Ruari who really tailored the ceremony to ourselves and incorporated a lot of laughter from all of our friends. Keeping with the Bridgerton theme, the song I walk down to the aisle to was violin quartet version of Taylor Swift Wildest Dreams. My bridal party also walked down the aisle to a violin Quartet version of Taylor Swift Enchanted. Our exit song was This Will Be An Everlasting Love also performed by the violin Quartet. Our closest friends and family and cousins, godfather and great aunts all did readings which made it so special.’

Feedback on the venue:Killashee was the first venue that we viewed. We knew from the moment we saw that it was perfect for us. The Manor house had such a Bridgerton like vibe that was so classy. The ballroom where the main reception was to be held is so beautiful and we loved how the dance floor was completely separate to the dining area. Finella our wedding coordinator was absolutely amazing from the get go. There was nothing too small or too big. She even managed to give us our banquet tables which hasn’t been done in the venue in over 20 years.

Feedback on our photographer: Tunde was absolutely amazing from the moment we met her at the RDS WEDDING show. We had a wonderful opportunity to work with her for our engagement photo shoot where she rarely encapsulated our energy and got both of us so comfortable in front of the camera. having that opportunity made working with her on the wedding day go so incredible seamless. We completely trusted her with all of her ideas of pictures and shots. Despite the weather not cooperating very much I ended up absolutely loving the pictures we got indoors in the Manor house. All through throughout the evening and amongst to come our guests complimented how amazing our photography team was how they just blended in weren’t in the way of anything and really encapsulated the energy of.

‘From the minute we got engaged in music was very important to us. We hired the Bentley Boys to do our drinks reception music which was a cello keys and guitar acoustic instrumental set. We then had an eight piece band including a full brass section and Jason and Rachel as singers who absolutely killed every single song that they sang. At one point I thought I was at a live concert!’

Favourite Memory:
The morning of the wedding when I was getting ready I just remember being so surprised at how calm and relaxed and great the energy was in the room which was a huge testimony to my gland team.
Our favourite memory has to be after the craze of the whole day just sitting down together for our dinner looking at all of the people that we cared about in the room and taking it all in.

Advice for other couples:
The small things don’t matter as much as you think they do and no matter how stressful things get at the end of the day as long as you two are together and getting married that is all that matters.
Make sure you hire vendors that completely get your vision so in the lead up to the big day, you’re not stressed because you trust them completely.
