“We got greedy and wanted to pick the bits we liked from two different themes – vintage and travel!“
The couple: Stephanie Behan & Declan Faller
Length of engagement: 9 months | Wedding Date: 10th May 2014
Wedding venue: Clonabreany House, Co Meath
Photographer: Konrad Kubic Photography
We met… At a mutual friend’s house warming party in April, 2009. Even though Dec arrived late and I was planning on leaving, he started chatting to me and I ended up staying at the party. We talked all night and by the time I did go home he had my number and had scheduled a date for two nights later.
Our proposal… Dec proposed when we were on holidays in Santorini, Greece, in August 2013. He said he was waiting for the right moment during the holiday, and conveniently for him on our second night, there just so happened to be a highly romantic fireworks display so he seized the opportunity to get down on one knee.
My dress… Was a Ronald Joyce dress from the Victoria Jane line. I had spotted it online and really liked it and luckily when I tried it on in Ciara Bridal I still really liked it. My headpiece was from Jules Bridal Jewellery.
Our ceremony… We were married in the Church of the Sacred Heart in Donnybrook. We wanted it there as not only was it our local church but also where Steph’s parents got married 40 years before so it was sentimental to be able to follow in their footsteps.
We chose our photographer because… Konrad’s portfolio had a lovely balance between portraits and excellent natural shots. We got on really well with him when we met him too and had a feeling he would be good to work with on the day.
Our honeymoon… We spent a week in West Cork moving between Skibbereen, Clonakilty and Kinsale. We are travelling to the States in the Summer for Honeymoon part II.
Our wedding theme/colours… Our theme was a mixture of Vintage and Travel. We got greedy and wanted to pick the bits we liked from both these themes! Our colour scheme consisted of Coral and Turquoise.
We chose our venue because… Clonabreany House really stood out from all the other venues we viewed. Having the whole place to ourselves really appealed to us and the house and accommodation were really beautiful. All the staff were amazing to work with from start to finish and the fact that the bridal suite was absolutely massive was an added bonus!
What my bridesmaid wore… A coral Dessy wrap dress in a halter neck style that we bought online from the Dessy website.
His suit… Was a charcoal grey suit from the Ted Baker Debonair collection.
My favourite part of the wedding day… Standing in the Sheebeen bar in the wee hours of the morning having a sing song with all our friends who were still standing!
Terry Butterly’s Smoked Salmon, Summer Leaves,
Caper and Red Onion Balsamic Dressing
Roasted Red Pepper and Vine Tomato
Roast Sirloin of Aged Irish Hereford Beef with Fresh Gravy
Grilled Fillet of Fresh Atlantic Hake and Citrus and Chive Sauce
Selection of Seasonal Potatoes and Vegetables
Warm French Apple Tarte Tatin,
Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel Sauce
My piece of advice for other brides… Get your groom involved, plan it as a team so you both get what you want out of the day.
