Designer to Watch: Berta Bridal

Fashion & Jewellery

Cementing our outrageous crush on the intrepid bridal designers currently coming out of Israel (see previous weddingsonline features gushing about designer Inbal Dror here!), Berta Bridal is bursting into the international bridal market with some of the most artistic and avant-garde bridal designs yet.

Berta has more than 16 years experience designing bridal wear but has just recently emerged as one of the wedding world’s foremost modern bridal designers. The 2014 collection, which debuted in New York in December last year, was one of the most highly anticipated shows of the wedding fashion season. The collection draws inspiration from movies, theatre and history from Western Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries and features the designer’s signature hand-beaded fabrics, uber feminine silhouettes and gravity-defying necklines and illusion backs. Each piece is as breathtaking as the last, and is a testament to the timelessness of even the most untraditional of wedding gowns.

Today we’ve featured a mix of designs from past and present collections to give you a comprehensive view of Berta’s inimitable style.

We’ve been a fan of Berta Bridal’s breathtaking creations for a long time now, however her strong, ultra modern, ultra feminine wedding gowns are sure to divide Irish brides into two camps! Berta’s collections are consistently defying bridal trends and surprising even the most seasoned of wedding bloggers and fashion writers. Powerful, dramatic silhouettes are cast with the most daring of features, and just when you thought necklines couldn’t plunge any more, bam, she’s done it again.

That’s not to say these gowns are far too racy however, each element is counterbalanced with a more subdued feature – a signature deep v-neck is offset with luxurious long lace sleeves, a bold illusion back is made safe with a full and magnificently embellished train, and contemporary cut-outs are perfectly paired with conservatively high necklines.

There’s no doubt these gowns are made for a seriously body-confident bride but you can’t deny they have the ‘wow factor’. Luxurious fabrics, which are are imported from fashion capitals around the world, go through a handmade development process in Berta’s studio. By doing this, Berta consistently has new and unique textures of fabrics for her line of bridal dresses.
