Majorcan born Rosa Estava describes her customers as women “who seek elegance” and one cannot deny that elegance is in abundance in every one of her carefully crafted bridal designs. Shortly after graduating from her Barcelona-based college of fine art and fashion, the young designer established her own collection of evening gowns and couture-inspired daywear with a small boutique on her native island. By 2003 Cortana had expanded to Barcelona and begun picking up a following of the city’s innately stylish inhabitants – those with an eye for, and appreciation of, quality designs and expert craftsmanship.
That same year, after designing her own wedding dress, Rosa Estava developed a passion for bridal and began her ascendency into the realm of elite Spanish wedding dress designers with her own unique take on contemporary bridal design. For the last 13 years she has been honing her skills, building her brand and is now ready to take Cortana internationally.

Separates
The Cortana signature is that of exquisitely elegant, unique gowns, where original patterns are brought to life with fabrics of the highest quality. Light as a feather tulle skirts abound and couture-quality separates are given the utmost attention. Expert draping, luxurious layering and delicate finishes take precedent over high impact embellishments, bringing a mature, modern feel to each gown. Quality is evident in the meticulous cut where form-fitting silhouettes are balanced with light and dreamy flourishes.

Undeniably there is quite a boho feel to these gowns, they are all at once romantic, feminine and minimal, designed for women looking for a dress they can wear, rather than it wearing them. Currently, Cortana bridal is only available in Spain, with a select few pieces available from their e-shop. Recently Feathers in London has taken on Cortana’s 2014 daywear collection, so it’s only a matter of time before the line floats to Irish shores. Watch this space.
