Designers we Love: Amanda Wakeley Sposa 2014

Amanda Wakeley Sposa delivers the ultimate in elegant, sophisticated gowns for the fashion forward bride. With a signature style that is part clean and contemporary and part vintage glamour (we’d say 80:20!), the award winning British designer is unrivalled in the art of combining dramatic embellishments and fluid lines using the most luxurious fabrics.

Amanda’s talent for creating modern yet timeless gowns is no secret; the Londoner has long been the designer of choice for some of the most elegant and stylish women in the world. Amanda’s designs were prominent in Princess Diana’s enviable wardrobe and played a part in some of her most noted appearances, she has also dressed the likes of Dita von Teese, Scarlett Johansson and Dame Helen Mirren, to name a few.

Amanda’s bridal line showcases the designer’s “calculatedly understated but alluring” style to perfection. Dramatic yet delicate draping is prominent in nearly all of the dresses in the collection, and is combined with striking features such as daringly low backs and bold bodices to create a look that is all at once minimal and dramatic.

“The Amanda Wakeley woman is ageless,” says the designer, “she has an attitude to dressing rather than being a specific age. She wears the clothes because they are sexy yet not overt…. she has an enviable ease.”

Dressing for the feminine shape is what this bridal collection is all about. Contouring is achieved through gentle structured panelling, which creates beautifully fluid lines that enhance the shape without being uncomfortable.

Amanda Wakeley is available from Myrtle Ivory in Dublin, please check availability of gowns directly with the store. To view the full Amanda Wakeley Sposa collection click here.
