Destination Wedding Alert: A Stunning Venue And Lots Of Fresh White And Green Florals

Articles, Real Weddings

“We always had in our minds that we wanted something different and wanted a big party and with Italy being our favourite place, we decided on Castello di Montignano in Umbria as our venue. It is a stunning venue in the middle of the Italian countryside where anything goes! We had an outdoor ceremony in the courtyard, we wanted it to feel fresh, classic and simple so all the flowers were whites and green. It was late April so there was plenty of wild flowers in bloom which added nice background colours. Bridesmaids were in a champagne crepe colour and the groomsmen were in tuxes, with Andy in a white tux. Very simple for the dinner flowers, individual white roses, long tables as we wanted it to feel very rustic. All signage was white in colour and simple!”

Imelda and Andy’s modern love story began on a dating app, however they knew each other as they are from the same place. Fast forward to their engagement story, told by Imelda:

We got engaged in Dubai on Christmas Eve 2023! Andy booked a VIP trip to the Burj Khalifa and we watched the sunset from the 154th floor and I turned around and there he was on one knee! We had such an amazing trip after that celebrating in Dubai – just magical!”

Imelda’s dress was from Dinagh Modes in Castlerea, Co.Roscommon. She wanted to have a classic, timeless look and went for a designer called Oxford Bridal. Pamela in Dinagh Modes did some alterations on the waist as Imelda wanted a lot of ruching around the waist. It was fitted and had a low neckline, buttons down the whole back of the dress and they added some sleeves for the ceremony and took them off for dinner! She went for Badgley Mischka satin court shoes and Rosie & Dott drop diamond earrings.

Andy got his white Remus Uomo tuxedo in Donnellans in Co.Roscommon. The suit jacket was stunning with some black trim around the pockets, very fitted and classic as well! He went for patent shoes, all from the same place and only had slight alterations on the trousers.

The bridesmaids dresses were a champagne colour in a crepe material which actually made them look slightly off white – Imelda loved this look as she wanted everyone to look timeless and fresh for the time of year. They went with 4 different styles for the bridesmaids and 4 different hairstyles. Imelda wanted to ladies to look and feel their best and didn’t want to them to look the same. Their jewellery was all from Rosie & Dott, gold diamond earring and a gold diamond bracelet, they all wore their own gold shoes.

The groomsmen wore black tuxes which we rented from Gerard Anthony’s in Carrick-on-Shannon.

“As we went to Italy we got legally married before we left, so we wanted our ceremony in Italy to be super personal and special, therefore my older brother conducted the symbolic ceremony for us. I had a string quartet play during this with songs such as Sigar Ros Hoppipolla, Lana Del Rey Videogames and Chemtrails over the country club and to walk us out we had L’amour Toujours by Gig D’Agostino – it was so good on the strings and really set the mood for the party to come! We had one poem in the ceremony read by my friend called “The Art of Marriage” and we finished with my sister in law saying a reflection. It was super special and personable which is everything we wanted.”

The wedding festivities were hosted at the beautiful Castello di Montignano:

“We chose Castello di Montignano in Umbria as we saw it had amazing reviews and a lot from Irish couples which gave us more confidence is confirming our choice. It looked like exactly what we wanted, the venue to ourselves, everything on site with regards accommodation, food, drink. We loved that it was in the middle of nowhere and that anything is possible there, it had a pool, a spa, beautiful surroundings – it really ticked all our boxes!”

The wedding was beautifully captured by Rellini Art Studio on photography and Love Lens Content Creators:

“We chose Rellini Art Studio which was recommended by the venue but also had great reviews online, they are from Umbria and had a lot of experience at the venue and had a lot of examples on their site of weddings there which was great as you could imagine what your pics would be like. They are a married couple Maurizio and Serena which I liked as they clearly work very well together. I had my 1300 photos back t0 me within 3 days which was absolutely incredible!

We didn’t have a videographer, we chose a content creator. We were adamant we didn’t want a video, however one of my friends advised to get something as we would regret it, and we got recommended Love Lens Content Creators from Portugal, Daniel & Luiz! They were absolutely incredible… the videos and clips we have from our day is just magical! They captured content on the welcome evening as well – we love this! They had all our content back to us within 72 hours – again absolutely amazing!”

To entertain their guests, they hired an Irish band – they were conscious that they were taking 100 Irish guests to the middle of Italy and wanted to make sure the music was great. So they booked The White Cakes from Castlerea, Co.Roscommon – a 5 piece band who they describe as ‘absolutely unreal’.

“We didn’t do favours or games or photo booths etc. We kept it very simple, good music, good company, good food and a free bar for the weekend. I think that was the best part.”

Imelda shares her favourite memory from the day:

Definitely the ceremony – I just loved it, it was so personal and special and I found it really emotional. I just loved that bubble. We also went up onto the rooftop of the venue at sunset for some pictures and videos and that was so romantic and it was a rally special moment Andy and myself had together.”

We love asking newlyweds for their best advice. Here’s what Imelda had to say:

“Well if you are going abroad, try and be as organised as possible. I didn’t get a wedding planner as I was one in a past life and knew I could organise it myself I had everything boxed off 2 weeks out so we could enjoy the build up. We were worried about the weather as it wasn’t promised good and we probably overly worried about it which cannot be controlled, everything works out in the end so don’t sweat it – our wedding day weather was incredible so we got very lucky as the day before it was thunderstorms! Either way you will have the most amazing day of your life!”
