You’ll be the best bride ever, just don’t do these five things!
Wedding planning can be stressful and we know many brides can feel overwhelmed with the whole thing. Don’t worry, just keep these five weddings planning decisions that involve your bridesmaids in check and you’ll be sweet!
Don’t 1: Insist on identical style bridesmaids dresses
Each of your bridesmaids will have their own personal style and whilst they have agreed to be your maid and let you make overall style decisions, asking them to wear dresses that don’t suit their body and make them feel uncomfortable is a big no no. Choosing a dress that is obviously unflattering for your maids just so they match is unfair. Most bridesmaids dresses are available in a range of cuts and styles in the same colour, be the lovely friend and let them choose their preferred shape.
Don’t 2: Forget your maids have other priorities
Whilst your wedding is your number one priority right now, it most likely isn’t for your bridesmaids. You should be mindful that your maids will have other things at the top of their life list – family, kids, work, the list goes on! Be respectful of the time they have available and don’t expect them to instantly drop everything just because you need them. It’s a great idea to set aside a weekly or monthly check in time that suits everyone to chat over things they might need to know about your day.
Don’t 3: Expect professional hair and makeup to be paid for by each bridesmaid
If you want your bridal party to have their hair and makeup done by professionals you should provide and pay for the services on the day. If your budget is being stretched why not let them know this is their wedding day treat and enjoy the experience as a gift.
Don’t 4: Plan too many pricey pre-wedding trips
Whilst it would be lovely to head off with your bridesmaids on numerous pre-wedding trips, you’ve got to be mindful that the cost of weddings will soon mount up and not everyone will have the spare cash to keep up. Only you know your besties so read the room and decide early on any trips your might take and plan accordingly.
Don’t 5: Assign too many extra projects
Bridesmaids main planning task is the hen party, anything after that is a bonus! Don’t expect your maids to take on too many extra projects in the run up to your wedding day such as DIY or guest logistics, unless they have offered their help.
