We met… In Doolin, Co. Clare where the groom is from and I was visiting for the night with a group of friends celebrating my birthday. We hit it off straight away and he made a big impression on the girls from the get-go which of course is always a good start. After swapping numbers we had our first date less than a week later – who knew I would be celebrating my 30th two years later on the very same weekend that we first met by walking up the aisle to my Groom.

Our proposal… Noel got down on one knee beside the lake in Cratloe Woods, County Limerick while our eight year old daughter recorded the whole thing on her Vtec kid’s camera jumping up and down with excitement. She had been in on the whole thing while mammy was in complete shock. We were stopping off at Cratloe Woods on the way home from a family holiday in Killarney so it was the best surprise at the end of a great trip.

My hair and makeup… My hair was done by Leeona at Mimi’s Hair Salon, Ennistymon, Co. Clare and the makeup by Aoife Garrihy Beauty, Ennistymon, Co. Clare. The fantastic girls at Riverside Beauty, Cree, Co. Clare took care of all the beauty side of things like tan and nails on the lead up to the big day. Couldn’t have been happier with everything.

My dress… I sourced my dress locally at The Bridal Emporium, Main Street, Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare, couldn’t believe I would find the dress at my doorstep but when you know, you know!

Our ceremony… Took place at my (Helen) local church at Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare where the two families, the Nagles and Malones came together with our close friends to join in and help us celebrate what was an amazing day.

His suit… Patrick Bourke’s Menswear, High Street, Ennis, Co. Clare were very helpful in finding the perfect suit for the Groom.

My favourite part of the wedding day… seeing Noel waiting for me at the bottom of the aisle. It took everything in me not to let the tears start rolling, it was so surreal, I’ll never forget it.

We chose our photographer because… We saw Eamon’s photos (Photographic.ie) of other weddings on his website and on contacting a local bride for whom he took wedding photos, she highly recommended him. Having met him and seeing his laid back style, we booked him and couldn’t have been happier with our choice.

The Wedding Decor…While the Armada Hotel, Spanish Point had everything I could want, Louise Eustace at Grace Events, Miltown Malbay, provided that extra bit of magic to the function room.

My piece of advice for other brides... Ignore all the hype that can come with the lead up to weddings about the “must haves” and what “to do” and “not to do” and just remember it’s about you and your groom and you can have whatever kind of wedding suits you both.
